OFDM communication devices using pseudo random modulated reference symbols

Abstract

A signal transmitted from the transmitting end to the receiving end intermittently includes a particular symbol having a predetermined particular patter in addition to a symbol including data to be transmitted. At the receiving end, the variation in the receiving level and/or the variation in the frequency band of a received signal are detected and corrected on the basis of the received particular symbol. Since the particular symbol has a particular pattern, the variation in the level and/or the variation in the frequency band of the received signal. Consequently, the variation in the receiving level and/or the variation in the frequency band of the received signal can be accurately detected from the particular symbol and consequently high-precision correction can be made.

  1. 1
A signal transmission method for transmitting first symbols and second symbols, comprising:modulating a plurality of carriers by data to be transmitted according to PSK or QAM, to produce modulated carriers;an inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) converting said plurality of modulated carriers into said second symbol;transmitting said first symbol;and transmitting said second symbol;wherein said first symbol includes information of a plurality of pseudo random codes, and a time axis component or a frequency axis component of said first symbol is known.
  2. 2
A signal receiving method comprising:receiving an input signal having a first symbol and a second symbol, wherein said first symbol has information of a plurality of pseudo random codes, a time axis component or a frequency axis component of said first symbol is known, and said second symbol has information of data and is modulated by said data according to PSK or QAM;controlling said input signal based on said information of the plurality of pseudo random codes of said first symbol;a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) converting said second symbol into carriers;and demodulating said carriers according to PSK or QAM to produce said data based on synchronization information obtained by said information of the plurality of pseudo random codes of said first symbol.
  3. 5
A signal transmission apparatus for transmitting a first symbol and a second symbol, comprising:a modulator for modulating a plurality of carriers by data to be transmitted according to PSK or QAM, to produce said plurality of modulated carriers;an inverse Fast Fourier transformer (IFFT) for converting said plurality of modulated carriers into said second symbol;and a transmitter for transmitting said first symbol and said second symbol;wherein said first symbol includes information of a plurality of pseudo random codes, and a time axis component or a frequency axis component of said first symbol is known.
  4. 6
A signal receiving apparatus comprising:a receiver for receiving an input signal;wherein said input signal has a first symbol and a second symbol, said first symbol has information of a plurality of pseudo random codes, a time axis component or a frequency axis component of said first symbol is known, and said second symbol has information of data and is modulated by said data according to PSK or QAM;a controller for controlling said input signal based on said information of the plurality of pseudo random codes of said first symbol;a Fast Fourier Transformer (FFT) for converting said second symbol into a plurality of carriers;and a demodulator for demodulating said carriers according to PSK or QAM to produce said data based on synchronization information obtained by said information of the plurality of pseudo random codes of said first symbol.
