Elongate thin-film reader

Abstract

A manuscript reader comprises an amorphous silicon film (6) sandwiched between at least one transparent electrode (7) and a plurality of metal electrodes (5) formed on an insulating substrate (8). If the reader includes a plurality of sensors, the detection circuitry can vary a comparison threshold level during the course of one scanning operation.
