Delivery devices and methods for heart valve repair

Abstract

Disclosed herein are devices, systems and methods for delivering a cinchable anchor device to cardiac tissue. One variation of an anchor delivery system comprises a catheter and a cinchable anchor device having an elongate configuration and an arcuate tensioned configuration. The cinchable anchor device comprises a distal anchor fixedly coupled to a tether, at least one additional proximal anchor that is slidably coupled to the tether, and at least one force distributing member positioned along the tether between the distal anchor and the additional proximal anchor. The force distributing member is configured to reduce the force applied to the distal anchor when the device is in the arcuate tensioned configuration to help prevent pull-out of the distal anchor.

  1. 1
An anchor delivery system comprising:a catheter and a cinchable anchor device for deliver}' therethrough, wherein the cinchable anchor device has an elongate configuration for advancement through the catheter and an arcuate tensioned configuration after deployment from the catheter, wherein the cinchable device comprises a distal anchor fixedly coupled to a tether, and at least one additional anchor, proximal to the distal anchor, wherein the at least one additional anchor is slidably coupled to the tether, and wherein the distal anchor and the at least one additional anchor are configured to self-secure into tissue when released from a restrained stated from within the catheter;and at least one force distributing member positioned along the tether between the distal anchor and the at least one additional anchor, wherein when the device is in its arcuate tensioned configuration, the force distributing member reduces the force applied to the distal anchor thereby helping prevent pull-out of the distal anchor.
  2. 6
An anchor device for use within a patient comprising:an elongate carrier, having a longitudinal axis, constructed to be passable through a blood vessel and into a heart, al least a portion of the elongate carrier being flexible;a series of self-forming, tissue-engageable anchors releasably carried by the elongate carrier, the anchors comprising a distal anchor, a first intermediate anchor and a proximal anchor;the anchors each having a first part and at least two second parts extending from the first part, each second part having a tissue-piercing tip;the elongate carrier having openings sized for passage of the anchors therethrough;the anchors placcable in a relatively straight, undcployed state generally parallel to the longitudinal axis within the elongate carrier;the anchors naturally assuming a curved, tissue-engaging deployed state after passing through the opening in the elongate carrier;the second parts having generally circular or semicircular shapes when in the deployed state;CA 2913610 2019-03-29 the anchors being oriented generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis when in the deployed state;the elongate carrier having a diametrical dimension d and the anchors in the deployed state having a diametrical dimension D, the ratio of D to d being at least 3.5;a tether serially coupling the anchors to one another, the tether having a distal end secured to the distal anchor or engageable with the distal anchor when the tether is pulled in a proximal direction;at least the proximal anchor being slidably coupled to the tether;and at least one force distributing member positioned along the tether between the distal anchor and the first intermediate anchor, wherein the a least one force distributing member reduces the force applied to the anchors thereby helping prevent pull-out of the distal anchor when the tether is pulled in a proximal direction.
