Mucin synthesis inhibitors

Use of a composition in the production of a drug for treating the overproduction of mucin associated with a disease selected respiratory tract the group consisting of chronic obstructive pulmonary or chronic disease (COPD), inflammatory lung disease, cystic fibrosis and acute infectious disease ; or disease of the gastrointestinal tract associated with cystic fibrosis selected from the group consisting of malabsorption, steatorrhea and diarrhea syndrome in a subject, wherein the composition comprises talniflumate or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
