Controlling a subscriber station on a direct mode channel

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and radio system for controlling a subscriber station (MS1) operating on a direct mode channel in a radio system, said radio system comprising a radio network (SwMi) with at least one base station (BS) and subscriber stations (MS1), and further, at least one repeater station (RS), which forwards traffic between said at least one base station (BS) and the subscriber stations (MS1) operating on the direct mode channel. To control the subscriber stations operating on the direct mode channel, information on the identifiers of subscriber stations operating on the direct mode channel in the coverage area of the repeater station (RS) is maintained in said repeater station (RS).

  1. 1
Claims 1. A method for controlling a subscriber station (MSI - MS4) operating on a direct mode channel ( f1 ) in a radio system, said radio system comprising a radio network (SwMi) with at least one base station (BS) and subscriber stations (MSI - MS4), and further, at least one repeater station (RS), which forwards traffic between said at least one base station (BS) and the subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on the direct mode channel ( f1 ) , said method being c h a r a c ¬ t e r i z e d in that information on the identifiers of subscriber stations operating on the direct mode channel in the coverage area of the repeater station (RS;400) is maintained (407) in said repeater station (RS).
  2. 10
A radio system, comprising a radio network (SwMi) with at least one base station (BS) and subscriber stations (MSI - MS4), and at least one repeater station (RS;400), which forwards traffic between at least one base station (BS) and the subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on the direct mode channel (fl), c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said repeater station (RS;400) comprises a database (412, DB) containing the identifiers of the subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on direct mode channels within the coverage area of the repeater station, and means (407) for maintaining the identifiers of said subscriber stations in said database (412, DB).
  3. 14
    A radio system according to claims 10 to 13, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said repeater station (RS;400) comprises means (410) for starting the maintenance (407) of the identifiers of the subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on the direct mode channels.
  4. 15
A radio system according to claims 10 to 14, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that said radio network (SwMi) comprises means (220) for starting the maintenance (407) of the identifiers of the subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on direct mode channels in said repeater station (RS;400) by transmitting a data maintenance starting message (203).
  5. 16
A radio system according to claims 10 to 15, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the terminal equipment (CP) connected to said radio network (SwMi) comprises means (221 ) for starting the maintenance (407) of the identifiers of the subscriber stations operating on direct mode channels in said repeater station by transmitting a data maintenance starting message (201) .
  6. 17
A subscriber station (MSI - MS4;500) operating on a direct mode channel (f1 ) of a radio system, said radio system comprising a radio network (SwMi) with at least one base station (BS) and subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) and at least one repeater station (RS;400), which forwards traffic between at least one base station (BS) and subscriber stations (MSI - MS4) operating on the direct mode channel, said subscriber station comprising a transceiver unit (501), a control unit (503), a user interface (505), c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the subscriber station (500) further comprises means (509) responsive to the identifier confirmation messages (210) transmitted by the radio system for transmitting the identifier of said subscriber station (500) to said repeater station (RS;400).
