Rough surface packaging element
Abstract
The present invention pertains to a packaging element comprising a supporting material fitted, on its face turned opposite the package, with a layer presenting a marking area and, on its face turned to the package, with a rough surface coating. The coating roughness has a depth of 1 to 100 mum, which can be obtained by using granulous filling material. The rough surface packaging element is suited as a covering element, including for yoghurt, as well as in the production of labels for bottle finishes.

Technical area
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a packaging element consisting of a carrier material which, on the side to be turned away from the packaged goods, is provided with a layer which shows a printed image and on the side which is to face the packaged goods exhibits a coating having a rough surface. with a roughness depth from 1 to 100 µm.
State of the art
Packaging elements of the type initially provided are used e.g. as plates for yogurt cups or as bottlenecks. To characterize the item, it is affixed to the packaging elements, on the side facing away from the goods being packaged. It is also known, on the side facing the goods being packaged, e.g. in the manufacture of yoghurt plates, to apply a coating in the form of a heat seal coating. By means of this heat-sealing paint, an airtight but at the same time tear-off connection is formed between the yogurt cup and the plate.
For preparing these packaging elements, carrier material is used, e.g. aluminum in the form of rolling stock, which is provided on the side facing the goods being packaged with a heat-sealing lacquer layer and on the side facing away from the goods being packaged with a layer exhibiting a printed image. In order to adapt the packaging elements to the shape of the goods being packaged, the correspondingly designed punching tool is used. After the punching process, there is a stack of packaging elements, such as yogurt plates. As these exhibit a smooth surface on both sides, problems arise from removal from the stack. Namely, the yoghurt plates stick together so strongly that two or more plates are partially removed from the stack at the same time.
To avoid this undesirable effect, the applied foil laminate has been subjected to an embossing step prior to the punching process. Thereby, films with rough surface are formed which can be easily removed from stacks, since the foils between the embossing locations prevent the films from adhering to each other. However, the embossing process causes the disadvantage that the printed image is distorted or even damaged.
An object of the invention is to avoid this known disadvantage and at the same time to arrive at easily manageable packaging elements.
According to EP-A2-089746, plastics material for the formation of toothpaste tubes immediately after manufacture is applied to a cooling roll, which functions as an embossing roll. Due to the embossing on the surface of the plastic material, the subsequent removal of the packaging elements from the stack is greatly simplified.
Instead of embossing, surface roughness can also be achieved by the addition of an anti-adhesive agent (see R. Gachter and H. Muller: Taschenbuch der Kunststoff-Additive, 2nd edition, Carl Hauser Verlag, Munich - Vienna, 1983, page 346).
Description of the Invention
According to the invention, there is proposed a packaging element of the type initially indicated, characterized in that the coating exists as a print in the form of geometrically arranged spacers, and that the print is sealable on the side facing the goods being packaged.
The geometric spacers preferably have a height of 4-15 microns.
Preferably, the roughness of the rough surface coating is formed by the addition of a granular material.
The carrier material of the packaging element according to the invention preferably consists of aluminum, paper or plastic, with plastics being preferably used on the basis of polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide or polyethylene terephthalate. In addition, as a carrier material, foil laminates can be advantageously used with the following material combination, calculated from the goods packaged: Aluminum / aluminum, aluminum / plastic, plastic / aluminum, plastic / plastic, aluminum / paper, paper / aluminum, paper / paper.
Between the carrier material and the sealable coating of rough surface, another sealable coating having a surface roughness equal to 0 or approximately equal to 0 may be provided.
The packaging element according to the invention can also be used for the manufacture of bottlenecks.
Brief description of the drawings in connection with an advantageous embodiment of the invention
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to Figures 1-4.
Figures 1-4 show the packaging element 1 according to the invention, which mainly consists of a carrier material 5, on which is arranged, on the side 2 facing away from the goods being packaged, a layer 4 which shows a printed image. On the side 3 facing the goods being packaged, the coating 6 has a rough surface.
The layer thicknesses constitute for the layer 4 which exhibits the printed image a maximum of 30 µm and for the coating 6 with a rough surface lying on the side facing the goods which is packed a maximum of 120 µm.
The layer thickness of the carrier material 5 is 5 - 200 µm, and in the case that the carrier material is aluminum, the layer thickness ranges from 10 to 70 µm, for paper in the range of 20 to 150 µm, and for plastics in the range of 7 to 150 µm.
If the packaging element according to the invention e.g. used as a lid element for yogurt cups, the carrier material preferably consists of aluminum with a tensile strength of 60 to 250 N / mm2
The layer 4 exhibiting the printed image is prepared so that, in a manner known per se, an undercoat for printing (not shown) is applied to the carrier material 5 to obtain the sufficient adhesion between the printed material and the carrier material. A printed image is then formed on the carrier material applied to the substrate for printing. by gravure or flexo printing process. To protect the printed image, this is then applied to a smooth cover.
On the side facing the goods being packaged, the carrier material 5 is applied to the coating 6 with a rough surface.
According to Figure 1, the surface roughness of the coating 6 is formed by using granular fillers 7, and a surface roughness of at least 1 µm can be obtained. Also, by means of this relatively low value for surface roughness, the process of removal from a stack by the method initially described can be simplified.
The packaging element 1 according to the invention shown in Figure 2 has on the side 3 facing the goods which is packaged a coating 6 having a rough surface, which has a coating 9 having a surface roughness of 0 or approximately equal to 0. This coating is applied by means of of a similarly designed pressure roller another coating, such that the spacers are formed in a geometric device on the surface side 3 facing the goods being packaged. The pressure roller surface exhibits e.g. recesses corresponding to the geometric arrangement and shape of the spacers. In addition, the coating used to make the spacers 8 may exhibit grain-containing fillers.
Figure 3 also shows a rough surface coating 6, which shows the spacers 10 in geometric arrangement. This packaging element according to FIG. 3 can be made by a method which is particularly easy to carry out, by applying a coating directly to the support material 5 by means of a similarly designed pressure roller so that the spacers 10 are formed.
The pressure roller is designed to allow coating thicknesses from 1 to 30 µm and in geometrically arranged locations by means of corresponding depressions in the pressure roll surface coating thicknesses from 4 to 100 µm.
Furthermore, the packaging element according to the invention shown in Figure 4 has spacers 11 on the surface side 2 facing away from the goods being packaged. These spacers 11 are formed on the layer 4 which exhibits the printed image by applying a printing ink layer by means of a correspondingly designed printing roller, so that the spacers 11 e.g. is formed in semi-circular shape. By means of the geometric arrangement of the spacers 11, in addition to the printed image, another decorative effect can be obtained. The coating 6 facing the goods being packed may have a granular filler 7, analogous to that shown in Figure 1. However, it is also possible to arrange the coating 6 with a rough surface according to Figure 2 or 3.
Industrial applicability
The packaging element according to the invention is particularly suitable as a lid element for yogurt cups. In this application, it is necessary to form the coating with a rough surface in the form of a sealable layer, so that an airtight but at the same time tear-off connection occurs between the lid and the yogurt cup.
In addition, the packaging element according to the invention is suitable, in particular that shown in Figure 1, for the manufacture of veneer neck labels. In this application, the rough surface coating must be particularly well compatible with adhesives used in the bottleneck labeling.
