Systems for treating fractured or diseased bone using expandable bodies

A system for treating a vertebral body having an interior volume occupied, at least in part, by cancellous bone is described. The system comprises a first access tool that is sized and configured to establish a first percutaneous access path into the interior volume of the vertebral body, and a second access tool that is sized and configured to establish a second percutaneous access path to the interior volume of the same vertebral body, the second access path being different than the first access path. At least one void forming tool is provided that is sized and configured to be introduced individually through a selected one of the first and second access tools into the interior volume to be enlarged to form a first void in the cancellous bone after introduction through the first access tool and to form a second void in the cancellous bone different than the first void after introduction through the second access tool.
