  1. 1
CLAIMS:1. A device, comprising: a container defining an interior for receiving a nutritional formula;a plurality of particles within the interior of the container;and a lipase immobilized to the plurality of particles so that the nutritional formula is exposed to the lipase when the nutritional formula is received within the container;wherein the lipase is configured to hydrolyze long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA) triglycerides within the nutritional formula;and wherein the lipase is immobilized within the container such that when the nutritional formula exits the container, the lipase remains in the container.
  2. 13
A method of providing a nutritional formula, the method comprising:receiving at least one of milk, infant formula, or enteral formula from a tube and into a device, wherein the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula comprises polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) triglycerides and/or PUFA esters, and wherein the device comprises: a container for receiving the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula;at least one opening in the container;and a lipase immobilized to a structure, wherein the structure is within the container;exposing the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula to the immobilized lipase within the device to hydrolyze the PUFA triglycerides and/or PUFA esters to form the nutritional formula;and outputting the nutritional formula into a feeding tube, wherein the lipase immobilized to the structure remains in the container when the nutritional formula is output into the feeding tube.
  3. 24
A method of providing a nutritional formula, the method comprising:receiving at least one of milk, infant formula, or enteral formula into a syringe device, wherein the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula comprises polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) triglycerides and/or PUFA esters, and wherein the syringe device comprises: a container for receiving the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula;at least one opening in the container;and a lipase immobilized within the container;exposing the milk, infant formula, or enteral formula to the immobilized lipase within the syringe device to hydrolyze the PUFA triglycerides and/or PUFA esters to form the nutritional formula;and outputting the nutritional formula from the syringe device.
