  1. 1
22 IL 175752/2 CLAIMS:1. A node for use in a system comprising said node and a further node a plurality of different communication channels being provided between said nodes, each communication channel having a different identity, said node comprising: means for calculating an authentication code (XMAC-I) from a plurality of values, some of said values being the same for said plurality of different communication channels, means for receiving information relating to an authentication code (MAC-I) calculated by said further node;and means for comparing information relating to an authentication code (XMAC-I) calculated by said node with information relating to an authentication code (MAC-I) calculated by the further node;and characterised wherein at least one of said values being arranged to comprise information relating to the identity of a communication channel (RB ID) of said plurality of communication channels.
  2. 4
A node as claimed in any preceding claim, comprising means for communication via a wireless connection. 01672583\80-01
  3. 5
A communication system comprising a node as claimed in any preceding claim.
  4. 6
A method for carrying out an integrity check in a system comprising a node and a further node , a plurality of communication channels being provided between said node and said further node, each communication channel having a different identity (RB ID), said method by the steps of:receiving in the node information relating to an authentication code (MAC-1) from the further node;23 IL 175752/2 calculating a further authentication code (XMAC-I) using a plurality of values, some of said values being the same for said plurality of different communication channels, comparing the further authentication code (XMAC-I) with said information relating to an authentication code (MAC-I) received from the further node and characterised in that at least one of said values being arranged to comprise information relating to the identity of a communication channel (RB ID) of said plurality of channels.
  5. 8
Amethod asclaimed in claim 6, comprising providing a combined input value by combining information relating to the identity of the communication channel (RB ID) of said plurality of communication channels with at least one other input value, and inputting the combined input value in an integrity algorithm (UIA) for calculating the authentication code (XMAC-I).
  6. 9
A method as claimed in any of claims 6 to 8, wherein said values for calculating the message authentication code (XMAC-I) comprise one or more of the following values of a 3G Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) security architecture:an integrity key (IK);a direction value (DIRECTION), a fresh value (FRESH), a message value (MESSAGE) and a count value (COUNT-I).
  7. 10
A method as claimed in any of claims 6 to 9, wherein said communication channels comprise a radio bearer.
