A method that comprises: receive, on a device (100), icon information from a source device (141, 143, 145, 147) in connection with Bluetooth device discovery, without establishing a full wireless short-range connection between the device and the device source where an address of the source device is used to establish the full Bluetooth connection to exchange messages with the source device, wherein the icon information includes information that describes a service available on the source device; displaying an icon (160, 162, 164) corresponding to the received icon information; periodically determining whether the source device is in Bluetooth communications range of the device; and eliminating the display of the icon after a predetermined time interval following the determination that the source device is no longer in Bluetooth communication range of the device.
