Compositions for containers and other articles and methods of using same

An article comprising: a food or beverage packaging container, or a portion thereof, having a metal substrate and a coating composition disposed on at least a portion of the substrate, wherein the coating composition includes a poly ( ether polymer) that is substantially free of bound bisphenol A, bisphenol F, bisphenol S, and epoxides thereof, and is a reaction product of ingredients including: (i) a diepoxide including a segment of the following Formula (II) ** Formula ** in which: H indicates a hydrogen atom, if present, each R1, if present, is independently an atom or group having an atomic weight of at least Dalton, v is 1 to 4, and wherein two or more R1 groups can be joined to form one or more cyclic groups; and each oxygen atom shown in Formula (II) has at least one R1 located ortho to it on the phenylene ring; and (ii) a polyhydric monophenol.
