DESCRIPTION
Protection device for an injection needle.
The present invention relates to a protection device for an injection needle or infusion needle according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such a device is known from WO-A-99/08742, in which a gripping part is formed by a hollow catheter start, the distal end of which is connected with a catheter. The elastic arms of the protection element intervene in slots at the beginning of the catheter and are held at the beginning of the catheter, until the needle is withdrawn when the tip of the needle is placed behind the bent ends of the elastic arms, over the that the elastic arms separate from the start of the catheter and pull the tip out of the needle. The needle with the guard member is completely loosened subsequent to the start of the catheter, thereby exposing the guard member at the tip of the needle.
US-A-5,344,408 describes a safety device for an injection needle with an internal housing surrounding the needle as a protection element and an external housing as a gripping part, which is connected with the protection element that is attached to it. can connect, so that the outer shell can be detached in a distal direction from the shield element.
A protection device of this type is known, for example, from US-4,929,241, in which a relatively small protection element is arranged on the needle and can be moved by a spring from the folded position to the protective position at the tip of the needle, with elastic arms of the protection element that engage on the tip of the needle, while a coupling device on the guard element retains or holds it on the needle shaft. Due to the smallness of the guard element, it is difficult to move it by hand on the needle. Furthermore, the safety spring can only be released when the tip of the needle is free, so there is a risk of damage that cannot be mastered or controlled.
The aim of the invention is to design a protection device of the type mentioned at the beginning, so that actuation by hand is easier to do and the risk of damage can be controlled or mastered.
According to the invention, this objective is achieved by the characteristics of the characterizing part of claim 1. Thanks to the fact that a gripping part is provided for moving the protection element between the protection element and the needle holder, it is possible, when the needle is withdrawn by the needle holder after an injection, to clamp the grip part in a comfortable way with the other hand, so that, as a result of the relative movement between the needle and the grip part, the guard element is moved into the guard position at the tip of the needle without the small guard member having to touch with the fingers. A risk of damage can also be mastered thanks to the fact that the protection element is brought into the protection position when the needle is withdrawn.
Illustrative embodiments of the invention are described in greater detail below, with reference to the drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section protection device;
Figure 2 shows a side view of the embodiment according to figure 1;
Figure 3 shows a view of the device according to Figures 1 and 2, with the protection element moved to the protection position;
Figure 4 shows a modified device according to Figures 1 and 2 with a needle cover; Y
Figure 5 shows an embodiment of the gripping part together with a syringe.
Figure 1 shows a needle holder 1 in which a needle 2 is fixed. Arranged on the axis of the needle 2 is a protection element 3 in the form of an elastic clip or spring clamp with intersecting arms. Numerical reference 4 indicates a sleeve that can be moved with the protection element 3 along the axis of the needle. In the exemplary embodiment, the tip of the needle is designed with a curve in the shape of an Epidural needle or Huber needle, so that the cuff 4, which has a smaller diameter than the curve at the tip of the needle, and together with it the protection element 3, and cannot move beyond the tip of the needle.
Disposed between the needle holder 1 and the protection element 3 is a gripping part 6, which, at the proximal end, has a hollow cylindrical portion 7 in which a radially protruding shield is formed. On the front face of the shield 8 there is a cylindrical portion 9 whose distal end is hollow. In the ready-to-use or ready-to-use state position according to FIG. 1, the protection element 3 is arranged in a cavity 10 and, by displacement of the gripping part 6, can be moved towards the tip of the needle 5, while the needle holder 1 is held with the other hand. The angled ends of the intersecting arms of the guard member 3 engage over the tip of the needle 5, so that harm to the personnel using or handling it is prevented by the tip of the needle.
At the distal end, the needle holder 1 has radially projecting ridges 11, over which the hollow cylindrical portion 7 of the gripping part 6 is guided. Between the cylindrical portion 9 of the smaller external diameter and the hollow cylindrical portion 7 of the larger external diameter, slits 12 are formed in the gripping part 6, through which slits 12 the front ends of the flanges 11 of the support protrude radially. needle, as shown in figure 2.
The cylindrical portion 9 of the gripping part 6 provided with the cavity 10 has a solid cylindrical portion 14 between the slits 12 and the cavity 10, the needle 2 being guided in the central hole of said portion 14. Between the slits 12 of the part gripping 6, the cylindrical portion 9 is integrally connected to the shield 8 and to the hollow cylindrical portion 7 through bridges 15.
These ridges 11 projecting on the outer circumference of the cylindrical portion 9 of the gripping part 6 serve for the attachment of the needle cover 13, which is shown in figure 4. This needle cover 13 is used to store and handle the device. This can be removed from the needle holder 1 immediately before use of the needle.
ES 2 268 009 T3 injection to expose the needle without the gripping part 6, and the guard member 3 moves due to the needle cover 13 being held by the ridges 11 at a radial distance from the portion 9 of the grip part 6.
Due to the smaller diameter in portion 14 compared to the larger diameter in flanges 11, the needle cover, which consists of a constant diameter tube section, cannot be incorrectly positioned over portion 14, but instead it only attaches to the ribs 11. This ensures that the needle cover 13 does not inadvertently engage with a portion of the grip portion 6. The needle cover can be produced cheaply by extruding a tube, a section of which tube forms the needle cover.
After removing the needle cover, an injection can be made in the ready or ready-to-use position according to Figures 1 and 2. As the needle is pushed with one hand into the needle holder 1, the part of Grip 6 in portion 7 is held with the other hand, so that the guard member 3 moves into the guard position at the tip of the needle as a result of the relative movement between the grip part 6 and the needle 2 . This deployed position of the gripping part 6 is shown in figure 3.
The protection element 3 is arranged loosely in the cavity 10 of the gripping part 6, so that the gripping part 6 can be easily removed from the position of figure 3, while the protection element remains in the position of protection on the tip of the needle. The cavity 10 in the cylindrical portion 9 protects the protection element 3 after removing the needle cover.
In the embodiment according to Figures 1 and 2, the hollow cylindrical portion 7 in the gripping part 6 is used to protect the fingers of the hand holding the gripping part from contact of the needle shaft, when the needle is withdrawn. In another configuration of the needle holder 1, this hollow cylindrical portion 7 can be made longer at the rear of the shield 8.
The gripping part 6, as well as the needle holder 1, is conveniently made of plastic.
Figure 4 shows a modified embodiment of a gripping part 6 in combination with a syringe 16 in which an injection needle 2 is fixed through a needle holder 17 designed as a cannula joint. In this embodiment, a bead 18 is formed on the outer circumference of the needle before the needle tip, on which bead 18 comes to bear the rear wall of the guard member 3 in the guard position. Instead of a bead 18, diametrically opposed button-like projections can be formed by squeezing or narrowing the needle.
The gripping part 6 has a cylindrical portion 19 which, in the initial position according to figure 4, is guided in the needle holder 17. In the example embodiment shown, two holders 20 extend from this cylindrical portion 19 in the proximal direction, on diametrically opposite sides, at a distance from the circumference of the syringe. The ends of these supports 20 are integrally formed on an annular body 21 from which elastic fingers 22 extend radially inward. The free ends of these elastic fingers 22 are located on the outer circumference of the syringe 16.
Due to the elastic fingers 22 between the grip part 6 and the outer circumference of the syringe 16, the grip part 6 can be used for different sizes of diameter of the syringe, for example, syringes with a volume of 1 ml can be attached. to 10 ml inside the same grip part. This means that there is a wide selection of syringes that can be used with the same needle.
Also in the embodiment according to figure 4, the radially projecting ridges 11 are formed at the front end of the needle holder formed as a cannula joint, and these serve as a seat for the needle cover. The protection element 3, the rear wall of which projects beyond the cross section of the flanges 11, moves into the protection position through the inner circumference of the cylindrical portion 19.
Formed on the cylindrical portion 19 is a further cylindrical portion 9, in which cavity 10 the protection element 3 is housed. As in the embodiment according to Figures 1 and 2, the axially extending slits are formed between the cylindrical portion 19 and the portion 9, through which slits, the ridges 11 formed on the needle holder or cannula joint 17 protrude to house the needle cover 13.
Figure 4 shows, in a perspective view, a needle cover 50 which is formed by injection molding, and whose distal end can be closed, while the proximal end has, on the inner circumference, grooves or grooves 51 corresponding to to the number of flanges 11 and which engage with the flanges 11 when the needle cover is placed on the needle holder 17, so that when turning the attached needle cover 50, needle holder 17 can also be rotated. A threaded coupling is usually provided between the needle holder 17 and the syringe 16, so that by turning the needle cover 50, the needle holder 17 can be screwed into the syringe 16.
It is customary to withdraw the liquid within the syringe using a relatively large diameter needle and then replace this needle with a relatively small diameter needle to infuse the patient. In the embodiment according to figure 4, the needle can be changed without difficulty. The described design allows one-handed actuation when the contents of the syringe have been injected, syringe 16 is grasped with two fingers and the needle is pushed from the patient's skin, while at the same time a finger of the hand is carried away. in the annular body 21 positioned at the proximal end.
Figure 5 shows an embodiment in combination with a Huber needle 2 which is held in a needle holder 1 'by a curved portion and is intended for perpendicular insertion during injection. Numerical reference 30 designates a support part which is preferably made of a foam material and which is provided with an adhesive face for better fixation on the skin of the patient. Disposed between the bearing part 30 and the needle holder 1 'is a shield-like gripping part 6 which rests on the bearing part through a flange-like area 32 within a corresponding depression in the support of the
ES 2 268 009 T3 needle 1 '. The protection element 3 is arranged in this middle part in the form of a pot 32.
When the needle is withdrawn, the gripping part 6 is clamped on the bearing part 30, while the needle holder 1 'is withdrawn. The protection element 3 moves towards the tip of the needle until it comes to rest on the projection of the needle 18, while, at the same time, the two intersecting arms of the protection element 3 engage on the tip of the needle. needle and cover it. The gripping part 6 can be removed from the bearing part 30 or together with the latter. The gripping part 6 and the bearing part 30 can also be connected to each other through a layer of adhesive.
The pot-shaped side walls 32 are preferably conical, so that the gripping part 6 cannot be removed by itself, but can only be pressed instead.
Figure 5 shows a needle cap 13 'with a tubular portion, from the proximal end of which project a diametrically opposite wall portions 33, which are inserted through partially circular slits 34 in the flange 31 of the gripping part. 6 into corresponding partially circular grooves 35 in needle holder 1 '. The curved wall portions 33 are freely guided through the curved grooves 34 in the flange 31 of the gripping part 6, and are inserted with a clamping or clamping pressure into the grooves 35 of the needle holder 1 '.
The needle cover 13 'of Figure 5 can also be closed at the distal end.
In all embodiments, the protection element 3 is preferably a needle clamp or clamp that is made of metal, and whose intersecting arms protrude from opposite sides of the proximal wall portion that has a hole for the passage of the needle. , the diameter of the hole being smaller than the maximum transverse dimension of the needle in the narrow part 18, so that the needle clamp or staple is held in the protective position at the needle tip by the enlarged diameter portion 18. The intersecting arms extending on both sides of the needle 2 have at the distal end an end portion which widens approximately the width of the posterior wall and which, in the starting position, is placed with elastic pretension on the outer circumference of the needle and, moving away from the tip of the needle, it is spring action moved into the guard position in which the two flared end portions engage over the tip of the needle. For this purpose, the distal ends of the arms, as shown in the side views, are slightly offset from each other in the longitudinal direction or the arms are of different lengths, thus ensuring that the two Angled end portions of the arms engage over the tip of the needle. At least on the longer arm, the end portion is curved inward at the free edge to ensure that the needle tip is covered even if an attempt is made to push the needle staple back from the guard position at the needle, the inwardly curved end portion engaging the tip of the needle. The needle clamp as a whole can be made very compact and approximately 7mm in length only.
