  1. 1
A method on a mobile device, the method comprising:monitoring (710) a first parent geofence and a plurality of first child geofences, each first child geofence being associated with the first parent geofence and geographically related to the first parent geofence by being within or partially within a geographic boundary of the first parent geofence;detecting (720) a boundary crossing into a geographic area covered by a second parent geofence;in response to detection of the boundary crossing, loading (730) a plurality of second child geofences, each second child geofence being associated with the second parent geofence and geographically related to the second parent geofence by being within or partially within a geographic boundary of the second parent geofence;and monitoring (740) the second parent geofence and the plurality of second child geofences.
  2. 7
A mobile device (115) comprising:a memory (320) for storing parent geofence and a plurality of child geofences;and a processor (310) programmed to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 6.
  3. 8
A carrier medium carrying machine readable code for execution by a processor of a mobile device to carry out the method of any one of claims 1 to 6.
  4. 9
A method comprising:receiving (810), over a network (105) from a mobile device (115), a first geofence page request including a current location associated with the mobile device (115);generating (820), based at least in part on the current location associated with the mobile device (115), a first parent geofence and a plurality of first child geofences in response to the first geofence page request, wherein each first child geofence is associated with the first parent geofence and geographically related to the first parent geofence by being within or partially within a geographic boundary of the first parent geofence;transmitting (830), over the network (105) to the mobile device (115), the first parent geofence and the plurality of first child geofences;receiving (840), over the network (105) from the mobile device (115), a second geofence page request, the second geofence page request including an updated current location associated with the mobile device (115);generating (850), based at least in part on the updated current location associated with the mobile device (115), a second parent geofence and a plurality of second child geofences, wherein each second child geofence is associated with the second parent geofence and geographically related to the second parent geofence by being within or partially within a geographic boundary of the second parent geofence;and transmitting (860), over the network (105) to the mobile device (115), the second parent geofence and the plurality of second child geofences.
  5. 13
A geofence paging system comprising:a memory for storing parent geofence and a plurality of child geofences;and a processor programmed to carry out the method of any one of claims 9 to 12.
  6. 14
A machine-readable medium carrying instructions that, when executed by a processor of a geofence paging system, cause the processor to carry out the method of any one of claims 9 to 12.
