15 claims: 5 independent, 10 dependent

  1. 1
A medication dispenser (10) comprising:a base seat (2), a circuitry unit (4), an outer casing (7), and a notched wheel (32) rotatable within said base seat (2), said base seat (2) including a mouthpiece (23), said base seat (2) defining a flow path (P) therein that is in communication with said mouthpiece (23), said circuitry unit (4) being disposed on said base seat (2), and including a first circuit board (411) and a pressure sensor (419) that is disposed on a bottom surface (413) of said first circuit board (411) and that is located in said flow path (P), said pressure sensor (419) being for detecting pressure difference in said flow path (P), said notched wheel (32) being formed with a plurality of equidistantly and angularly spaced-apart notches (321), each of said notches (321) being adapted for receiving one of capsules (313) of a conveying strip (31), said outer casing (7) being movably mounted to said base seat (2), and being movable relative to said base seat (2) between a close position where said outer casing (7) covers said mouthpiece (23), and an open position where said outer casing (7) uncovers said mouthpiece (23);characterized in that when said notched wheel (32) is rotated to a position such that one of said notches (321) is in communication with said flow path (P), the one of said notches (321) is located downstream of said pressure sensor (419), and a dose of medication in a corresponding one of the capsules (313) of the conveying strip (31) is accessible via said mouthpiece (23).
  2. 4
The medication dispenser (10) as claimed in any one of claims 2-3, wherein said communicating channel (214) permits ambient air to flow thereinto via said intake channels (213), said pressure sensor (419) being disposed adjacent to an end portion of said communicating channel (214).
  3. 8
The medication dispenser (10) as claimed in any one of claims 1-7, further characterized in that said circuitry unit (4) further includes a battery (416), a first switch (424) that is disposed on said first circuit board (411), and a second switch (425) that is disposed on said first circuit board (411), when said outer casing (7) is at the close position, said first switch (424) being actuated such that electric power is prevented from being supplied from said battery (416) to said first circuit board (411), when said outer casing (7) is at the open position, said second switch (425) being actuated such that electric power is supplied from said battery (416) to said first circuit board (411).
  4. 11
The medication dispenser (10) as claimed in any one of claims 1-10, wherein said notched wheel (32) having a top surface (322), said circuitry unit (4) further including a plurality of magnets (417), and a Hall sensor (418) that is disposed on said first circuit board (411), said magnets (417) being fixedly mounted to said top surface (322) of said notched wheel (32), and being equidistantly and angularly spaced apart from each other, said Hall sensor (418) being switchable between a first detecting state where said Hall sensor (418) is not registered with said magnets (417), and a second detecting state where said Hall sensor (418) is registered with one of said magnets (417).
  5. 13
The medication dispenser (10) as claimed in any one of claims 1-12, wherein said base seat (2) further includes a seat body (21) that is connected to said mouthpiece (23), said circuitry unit (4) further including a lip detection module (43), said lip detection module (43) including a capacitive sensor (432), an infrared proximity sensor (433) and an infrared temperature sensor (434), during an approaching movement between said mouthpiece (23) and a user's lips toward each other, said infrared proximity sensor (433), said capacitive sensor (432) and said infrared temperature sensor (434) in turn detecting the presence of the user's lips, said mouthpiece (23) and the user's lips being determined to be in contact with each other when all of said infrared proximity sensor (433), said capacitive sensor (432) and said infrared temperature sensor (434) detect presence of the user's lips.
