    Claims of equivalent WO 2011053787 A2 CLAIMS A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising:a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the fluid transporter to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the fluid transporter not essentially simultaneously with an act of activating the extraction activator, and/or without an act of activating the extraction activator. The device of claim 1, wherein the support structure further comprises an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject. The device of any one of claims 1 or 2, wherein the support structure is able to be placed against the skin of the subject. The device of any one of claims 1-3, wherein the extraction activator is able to determine a force created when the device is placed against the skin of the subject. The device of any one of claims 1-4, wherein the extraction activator is able to determine body heat from the subject. The device of any one of claims 1-5, wherein the extraction activator is able to be activated using an actuator. The device of claim 6, wherein the actuator comprises a button. 8. The device of any one of claims 1-7, wherein the extraction activator is able to be activated remotely. 9. The device of any one of claims 1-8, wherein the extraction activator comprises a timing mechanism for timed activation of the extraction activator after removal of the device from packaging containing the device. 10. The device of any one of claims 1-9, wherein the support structure further comprises a mechanical element for affixing the device to the skin of the subject. 11. The device of any one of claims 1-10, wherein the support structure contains a recess containing the extraction activator. 12. The device of any one of claims 1-11, wherein the support structure further comprises a microfluidic channel in fluidic communication with the extraction activator. 13. The device of any one of claims 1-12, wherein the fluid comprises blood. 14. The device of any one of claims 1-13, wherein the fluid comprises interstitial fluid. 15. The device of any one of claims 1-14, wherein the device further comprises a storage chamber in fluidic communication with the extraction activator. 16. The device of any one of claims 1-15, wherein the device is able to determine an analyte contained within the fluid. 17. The device of claim 16, wherein the device is able to determine the analyte without subsequent removal of the device from the skin of the subject. 18. The device of any one of claims 16-17, wherein the device is able to automatically determine the analyte. 19. The device of any one of claims 16-18, wherein the device is able to display a result of the determination of the analyte. 20. The device of any one of claims 16-19, wherein the analyte is glucose. 21. The device of any one of claims 1-20, wherein the device is able to deliver a fluid to the skin of the subject via the extraction activator. 22. The device of claim 36, wherein the support structure further comprises an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject. The device of any one of claims 36 or 37, wherein the support structure is able to be placed against the skin of the subject. The device of any one of claims 54-107, wherein the device is able to vibrate for a period of time, and insert the fluid transporter into the skin of the subject while the device is vibrating. 109. The device of any one of claims 54-108, wherein the device is able to produce artificial noise upon activation of the activator. 110. The device of any one of claims 54-109, wherein the device is able to produce artificial noise while the device inserts the fluid transporter into the skin of the subject. 111. The device of any one of claims 54-110, wherein the device is able to produce artificial noise for a period of time, and insert the fluid transporter into the skin of the subject while the device is producing artificial noise. 112. The device of any one of claims 54-111, wherein the device further comprises a heater for applying heat to the skin of the subject. 113. The device of any one of claims 54-112, wherein the device further comprises a cooler for cooling the skin of the subject. 114. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the fluid transporter to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator;and a sensory obscurer for producing a tactile, olfactory, auditory, and/or visual sensation able to at least partially obscure sensation produced by the activator and/or the fluid transporter. 115. The device of claim 114, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a speaker. 116. The device of any one of claims 114 or 115, wherein the sensory obscurer is able to produce artificial sound. 117. The device of any one of claims 114-116, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a vibrator. 118. The device of any one of claims 114-117, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a light. 119. The device of any one of claims 114-118, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises an LED. 120. The device of any one of claims 114-119, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a visual display. 121. The device of any one of claims 114-120, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a volatile chemical. 122. The device of any one of claims 114-121, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a chemical reactive with the skin of the subject, wherein the device is able to apply the chemical to the skin of the subject. 123. The device of any one of claims 114-122, wherein the sensory obscurer comprises a heater for heating the skin of the subject. 124. The device of any one of claims 114-123, wherein the sensory obscurer is not integral to the support structure. 125. The device of any one of claims 114-124, wherein the sensory obscurer is not used to withdraw the fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject. 126. The device of any one of claims 114-125, wherein the sensory obscurer is not used to deliver the fluid to the skin of the subject. 127. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;an applicator for applying an analgesic to the skin of the subject;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the fluid transporter to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator. 128. The device of claim 127, wherein the applicator comprises a fluid reservoir containing the analgesic. 129. The device of any one of claims 127 or 128, wherein the applicator comprises an absorbent material containing the analgesic. 130. The device of any one of claims 127-129, wherein the support structure further comprises adhesive for adhesion of the device to the skin of the subject. 131. A method, comprising: applying a device to the skin of a subject, the device able to deliver to and/or withdraw a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject;and activating the device, wherein, after a period of time after activating the device, the device exposes a fluid transporter to the skin of the subject. 132. A method, comprising: applying a device to the skin of a subject, the device able to deliver to and/or withdraw a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject;and activating the device, wherein the device, when applied to the skin of the subject, at least partially obscures sensation of the fluid being delivered to and/or withdrawn from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject. 133. A method, comprising: applying a device to the skin of a subject, the device able to deliver to and/or withdraw a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject;applying analgesic to the skin of the subject using the device;and delivering to and/or withdrawing the fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject using the device. 134. A kit for multiple analyses of a fluid withdrawn from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, comprising: a plurality of devices each comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;and a fluid transporter associated with the support structure. 135. The kit of claim 134, wherein the plurality of devices are attached to each other initially. 136. The kit of any one of claims 134 or 135, wherein the support structure further comprises an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject. 137. A device for multiple analyses of a fluid withdrawn from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, comprising: a plurality of fluid transporters, wherein the plurality of fluid transporters are initially fastened to the device and/or each other for use with a first extraction and, after first extraction and removal of the device from the skin of the subject, one fluid transporter is removed from the device. 138. The device of claim 137, wherein after one fluid transporter is removed from the device, the fluid transporter for extracting is replaced with a different fluid transporter. 139. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the means for extracting the fluid to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the means for extracting not essentially simultaneously with an act of activating the extraction activator, and/or without an act of activating the extraction activator. 140. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the means for extracting the fluid to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;and sensory obscuration means which produces a tactile, olfactory, auditory, and/or visual sensation which at least partially obscures sensation produced by the means for extracting. 141. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the means for extracting the fluid to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;and means for applying an analgesic to the skin of the subject. 142. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;transport means associated with the support structure;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator, wherein the exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject occurs not essentially simultaneously with activation of the activator. 143. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;transport means associated with the support structure;an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator;and a sensory obscurer for producing a tactile, olfactory, auditory, and/or visual sensation able to at least partially obscure sensation produced by the activator and/or the transport means. 144. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;transport means associated with the support structure;an applicator for applying an analgesic to the skin of the subject;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator. 145. A method, comprising: applying a device to the skin of a subject, the device able to deliver to and/or withdraw a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject;and activating the device, wherein, after a period of time after activating the device, the device exposes transport means for delivering to and/or withdrawing the fluid from the skin of the subject. 146. A kit for multiple analyses of a fluid withdrawn from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, comprising: a plurality of devices each comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;and means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject. 147. A device for multiple analyses of a fluid withdrawn from the skin of a subject, comprising: a plurality of means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the plurality of means for extracting are initially fastened to the device and/or each other for use with a first extraction and, after first extraction and removal of the device from the skin of the subject, one means for extracting is removed from the device. 148. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the fluid transporter to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the fluid transporter by application of the support structure to the skin of the subject, and/or by one-time manipulation of an actuator, whereby extraction of the fluid is completed without additional manipulation of the extraction activator. 149. The device of claim 148, wherein the support structure further comprises an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject. 150. The device of any one of claims 148 or 149, wherein the support structure is able to be placed against the skin of the subject. 151. The device of claim 182, wherein the activator can only be activated once to cause exposure of the fluid transporter to the skin of the subject. 184. The device of any one of claims 182 or 183, wherein the activator is able to be activated multiple times to cause exposure of the fluid transporter to the skin of the subject upon each activation. 185. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the fluid transporter to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the fluid transporter after no more than 5 manipulations of an actuator, whereby extraction of the fluid is completed without additional manipulation of the extraction activator. 206. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the means for extracting the fluid to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the means for extracting by application of the support structure to the skin of the subject, and/or by one-time manipulation of an actuator, whereby extraction of the fluid is completed without additional manipulation of the extraction activator. 215. A device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;transport means associated with the support structure;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator, wherein after activation of the activator, the device is able to automatically deliver and/or withdraw a fluid. 216. A device for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject;and an extraction activator associated with the support structure able to activate the means for extracting the fluid to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the extraction activator is constructed and arranged to activate the means for extracting after no more than 5 manipulations of an actuator, whereby extraction of the fluid is completed without additional manipulation of the extraction activator. 217. An article for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the article comprising: a package containing an extraction device, wherein the package is readily openable by the subject, and wherein the device comprises: a support structure comprising an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject;and a fluid transporter associated with the support structure, wherein the device is removable from the package and applied to the skin for extraction without removal of a release layer and/or removal or addition of other material from or to the device. 218. The article of claim 217, wherein the support structure is able to be placed against the skin of the subject. 219. The article of any one of claims 217 or 218, wherein the fluid transporter is able to determine a force created on the fluid transporter when the device is placed against the skin of the subject. 220. The article of any one of claims 217-219, wherein the device is able to determine body heat from the subject. 221. The article of any one of claims 217-220, wherein the fluid transporter is able to be activated remotely. 222. The article of any one of claims 217-221, wherein the device comprises a timing mechanism for timed activation of the fluid transporter after removal of the device from the package. 223. The article of any one of claims 217-222, wherein the support structure further comprises a mechanical element for affixing the device to the skin of the subject. 224. The article of any one of claims 217-223, further comprising an extraction activator associated with the support structure constructed and arranged to activate the fluid transporter to extract the fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject. 225. The article of claim 224, wherein the extracting activator is able to be activated using an actuator. 226. The article of claim 225, wherein the actuator comprises a button. 227. The article of any one of claims 224-1226, wherein the support structure contains a recess containing the extraction activator. 228. The article of any one of claims 224-227, wherein the support structure further comprises a microfluidic channel in fluidic communication with the extraction activator. 229. The article of any one of claims 224-228, wherein the device is able to withdraw fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject via the extraction activator. 230. The article of any one of claims 217-229, wherein the device further comprises a storage chamber in fluidic communication with the extraction activator. 231. The article of any one of claims 217-244, wherein the support structure is able to apply a vacuum to the skin of the subject. 246. The article of any one of claims 217-245, wherein the support structure comprises a self- contained vacuum chamber having a pressure less than atmospheric pressure. 247. The article of any one of claims 217-247, wherein the device further comprises a heater for applying heat to the skin of the subject. 249. An article, comprising: a package containing a device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;a fluid transporter associated with the support structure;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the fluid transporter to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator, wherein the device is removable from the package and applicable to the skin of the subject, and wherein the device is constructed and arranged to automatically expose the skin to the fluid transporter after removal of the device from the package and application of the device to the skin of the subject. 251. The article of claim 250, wherein the device is removable from the package and applicable to the skin without removing a release layer from the device. 252. The article of any one of claims 250 or 251, wherein the device is removable from the package and applicable to the skin without removing or adding material from or to the device. 253. The article of any one of claims 250-252, wherein the device comprises a release layer connected to the package such that removal of the device from the package causes release of at least a portion of the release layer from the device. 254. The article of any one of claims 250-253, wherein the support structure further comprises an adhesive for adhesion of the device to the skin of the subject, and wherein removal of the device from the package causes external exposure of the adhesive. 255. The article of any one of claims 250-254, wherein the activator is constructed and arranged to activate the fluid transporter not essentially simultaneously with activation of the activator, and wherein removal of the device from the package activates the activator. 256. A method, comprising: removing, from a package, a device able to deliver to and/or withdraw fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject;and applying the device to the skin of the subject, wherein the act of removing the device from the package activates the device such that the device delivers to and/or withdraws fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of the subject without further intervention to the device. 257. An article for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of a subject, the article comprising: a package containing an extraction device, wherein the package is readily openable by the subject, and wherein the device comprises: a support structure comprising an adhesive for adhesion of the support structure to the skin of the subject;and means for extracting a fluid from the skin and/or from beneath the skin of the subject, wherein the device is removable from the package and applied to the skin for extraction without removal of a release layer and/or removal or addition of other material from or to the device. 258. An article, comprising: a package containing a device for delivering to and/or withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;transport means associated with the support structure;and an activator constructed and arranged to cause exposure of the transport means to the skin of the subject upon activation of the activator, wherein the device is removable from the package and applicable to the skin of the subject, and wherein the device is constructed and arranged to automatically expose the skin to the transport means after removal of the device from the package and application of the device to the skin of the subject. 259. A device for withdrawing a fluid from the skin and/or beneath the skin of a subject, the device comprising: a support structure for application to the skin of the subject;and a fluid transporter associated with the support structure, wherein the device exhibits a success rate of at least about 95% of withdraw of at least 0.5 microliters of the fluid from the skin of the subject into the device, in a population of at least 100 randomly chosen subjects. 260. The device of claim 259, wherein the success rate is at least about 97%. 261. The device of claim 259, wherein the success rate is at least about 99%. 262. The device of claim 259, wherein the device exhibits a success rate of at least about 95% of withdraw of at least 1 microliter of the fluid. 263. The device of claim 259, wherein the device exhibits a success rate of at least about 95% of withdraw of at least 5 microliters of the fluid.
