Multi-channel transmission and reception with block coding in a communication system

Abstract

Techniques for transmitting broadcast signals are provided. The broadcast signals comprise primary data and secondary data. The primary data is encoded with an outer code, which produces parity frames. The parity frames are then transmitted on a primary broadcast channel (310), wherein the primary broadcast channel (310) is assigned a first channelization code. The secondary data is transmitted on a secondary broadcast channel (320). Each channel is assigned a channelization code in accordance with code division multiple access, CDMA, transmission techniques.

  1. 1
An apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus comprising:means for encoding (222) primary data with an outer code (220), wherein the outer code applied to the primary data produces parity frames;means for transmitting the parity frames on a primary broadcast channel (310), wherein the primary broadcast channel (310) is assigned a first channelization code;means for transmitting secondary data on a secondary broadcast channel (320);and means for assigning each channel a channelization code in accordance with code division multiple access (CDMA) transmission techniques.
  2. 10
A method for transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus comprising:encoding (222) primary data with an outer code (220), wherein the outer code applied to the primary data produces parity frames;transmitting the parity frames on a primary broadcast channel (310), wherein the primary broadcast channel (310) is assigned a first channelization code;transmitting secondary data on a secondary broadcast channel (320);and assigning each channel a channelization code in accordance with code division multiple access (CDMA) transmission techniques.
