19 claims: 4 independent, 15 dependent

  1. 1
A method for wireless communication, comprising:selecting (514) a plurality of sets of terminals for possible data transmission on a resource, each set including more than one terminal, each set of terminals being different;wherein the method comprises the steps of: evaluating (520) a performance metric of each of the plurality of sets of terminals;selecting (528) a set of terminals among the plurality of sets of terminals based on the evaluated performance metric performance of each set of terminals;and scheduling (536) each terminal in the selected set of terminals for data transmission on the resource.
  2. 10
An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:means for selecting a plurality of sets of terminals for possible data transmission on a resource, each set including more than one terminal, each set of terminals being different;wherein the apparatus comprises: means for evaluating a performance metric of each of the plurality of sets of terminals;means for selecting a set of terminals among the plurality of sets of terminals based on the evaluated performance metric performance of each set of terminals;and means for scheduling each terminal in the selected set of terminals for data transmission on the resource.
  3. 18
A method as claimed in any of claims 1 to 9 wherein the method comprises:determining channel state information for at least one antenna at a terminal;sending the channel state information to a base station;and receiving a grant scheduling the terminal for data transmission on a resource, wherein the terminal is in a set of terminals scheduled for data transmission on the resource, the set of terminals being selected from a plurality of sets of terminals based on performance of each set of terminals, the performance of the set of terminals scheduled for data transmission being determined based at least on the channel state information from the terminal.
  4. 19
A computer program comprising instructions which, when the program is executed by a computer, cause the computer to carry out the method of any of claims 1 to 9 or 18.
