  1. 1
A computer-implemented method comprising:running video games on respective servers (1515-1525), including a first server (1521) and a second server (1522), in a hosting service centre (210) for gameplay by one or more users via interactive compressed video streams sent from the hosting service centre to respective client devices correspondingly associated with the one or more users, each client device being remote to the hosting service centre;recording an interactive compressed video stream of the interactive compressed video streams into a delay buffer (1515) of the hosting service centre;recording, at the hosting service centre, a game state associated with the interactive compressed video stream, the interactive compressed video stream corresponding to the video game running on the first server;allowing a first user to specify a video segment displayed on the client device associated with the first user to record and retain, wherein the video segment comprises a portion of the interactive compressed video stream;receiving at the first server a request from the second server to allow the video segment to be viewed on the client device associated with a second user;acquiring from the delay buffer by the second server the video segment for display on the client device associated with the second user, displaying the video segment on the client device associated with the second user;and allowing the second user to control a camera view of the video segment, wherein the camera view of the video segment is generated using the game state associated with the video segment, wherein different video and audio are generated when the video segment is being utilized and the camera view is changed.
  2. 5
A system comprising:a hosting service centre (210) comprising a delay buffer (1515) and a plurality of servers (1521-1525), including a first server (1521) and a second server (1522), wherein each server is configured to run a respective video game for gameplay by one or more users, and generate respective interactive compressed video streams for sending to respective client devices correspondingly associated with the one or more users, each client device being located remote to the hosting service centre;wherein the hosting service centre is configured to: record an interactive compressed video stream of the interactive compressed video streams into the delay buffer;record a game state associated with the interactive compressed video stream, the interactive compressed video stream corresponding to the video game running on the first server;allow a first user to specify a video segment displayed on the client device associated with the first user to record and retain, wherein the video segment comprises a portion of the interactive compressed video stream;receive at the first server a request from the second server to allow the video segment to be viewed on the client device associated with a second user;acquire from the delay buffer by the second server the video segment for display on the client device associated with the second user, display the video segment on the client device associated with the second user;and allow the second user to control a camera view of the video segment, wherein the camera view of the video segment is generated using the game state associated with the video segment, wherein different video and audio are generated when the video segment is being utilized and the camera view is changed.
