  1. 1
A method for use by a code division multiple access, CDMA, cellular transfer station (14) having a first and a second antenna (A, B), the first and the second antennas (A, B) transmitting multiple repetitions of a same data packet, the method comprising:transmitting first synchronization information from the first antenna (A) during a first time slot, a duration of said transmission of said first synchronization information being less than a duration of the first time slot;transmitting second synchronization information from the second antenna (B) during a second time slot, a duration of said transmission of said second synchronization information being less than a duration of the second time slot;and transmitting a control channel that is aligned with the first and second synchronization information, wherein the control channel is spread using a CDMA code.
  2. 4
A code division multiple access, CDMA, cellular transfer station comprising:a first antenna (A);a second antenna (B), the first and the second antennas (A, B) transmitting multiple repetitions of a same data packet;circuitry configured to transmit first synchronization information from the first antenna (A) during a first time slot, a duration of said transmission of the first synchronization information being less than a duration of the first time slot;circuitry configured to transmit second synchronization information from the second antenna during a second time slot, a duration of said transmission of the second synchronization information being less than a duration of the second time slot, wherein the first and the second synchronization information differ between the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) and the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) are distinguished using the synchronization information;and circuitry configured to transmit a control channel that is aligned with the first and second synchronization information, wherein the control channel is spread using a CDMA code.
  3. 7
A code division multiple access, CDMA, cellular subscriber station (42) receiving multiple repetitions of a same data packet comprising:an antenna (10) configured to receive a transmission of first synchronization information from a transfer station (14) during a first time slot, a duration of the transmission of the first synchronization information being less than a duration of the first time slot, the antenna (10) further configured to receive a transmission of second synchronization information during a second time slot, a duration of the received transmission of the second synchronization information being less than a duration of the second time slot;and circuitry coupled to the antenna (10) and configured to receive the first and second synchronization information, wherein the CDMA subscriber station (42) is configured to be synchronized with the transfer station (14) using the first and second synchronization information, circuitry configured to determine information associated with the transfer station (14) based on the first and second synchronization information, wherein the first and the second synchronization information differ between the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) and the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) are distinguished using the synchronization information;and circuitry configured to receive control information over a control channel spread using a CDMA code in a plurality of time slots.
  4. 9
A method for use in a code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular subscriber station (42) having an antenna (10) for receiving multiple repetitions of a same data packet, the method comprising:receiving a transmission of first synchronization information from a transfer station (14) with the antenna (10) during a first time slot, a duration of the received transmission of the first synchronization information being less than a duration of the first time slot;and receiving, a transmission of second synchronization information from a transfer station (14) with the antenna (10) during a second time slot, a duration of the received transmission of the second synchronization information being less than a duration of the second time slot;and synchronizing the CDMA cellular subscriber unit (42) with the transfer station (14) using the first and second synchronization information, wherein the first and the second synchronization information differ between the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) and the antennas (A, B) of the transfer station (14) are distinguished using the synchronization information;determining information associated with the transfer station (14) based on the first and second synchronization information;and receiving control information over a control channel spread using a CDMA code in a plurality of time slots.
