A filter media having a woven or non-woven substrate and a fiber layer formed on the substrate, wherein the fibers in the layer comprise a polyurethane, the fibers having a diameter of 0.01 to 0.5 microns, wherein after exposure to 60C (140F) air and a relative humidity of 100% for 1 to 16 hours, at least 50% of the fibers of the fiber layer are retained with effective functionality according to the following calculation:proportion of fibers retained with effective functionality=log⁢1-F⁢x/log⁢1-F⁢i wherein Fi is the initial fiber layer efficiency and Fx is the post-exposure fiber layer efficiency, and the initial fiber layer efficiency Fi is calculated according to: F⁢i=1-E⁢X⁢P⁢L⁢n⁢1-initial efficiency of filter medium-Ln⁢1-initial efficiency of substrate wherein the initial efficiency of the composite and the initial efficiency of the substrate are measured according to ASTM Standard F 1215-89, and the post-exposure fiber layer efficiency Fx is calculated according to: Fx=1-EXP⁢Ln⁢1-post-exposure efficiency of filter medium-Ln⁢1-post-exposure efficiency of substrate wherein the post-exposure efficiency of the composite and the post-exposure efficiency of the substrate are measured according to ASTM Standard F1215-89.
