  1. 1
Claims of equivalent WO 2006119968 A2 We claim:1. A substantially spherical microsphere suitable for active embolization and/or drug delivery comprising: a non-ionic contrast agent, at least one drug, and a biocompatible polymeric material comprising polyvinylalcohol, an acrylic acid polymer or copolymer, an acrylamide polymer or copolymer, an acrylamide polymer or copolymer, or an acrylic acid ester polymer or copolymer, wherein the microsphere is swellable in a pharmaceutically acceptable solution and has a diameter of from about 10 μm to about 2000 μm before swelling.
  2. 74
A substantially spherical microsphere suitable for active embolization or drug delivery comprising:a non-ionic contrast agent, at least one drug, and a biocompatible polymeric material comprising a polyvinylalcohol and sodium acrylate copolymer, wherein the microsphere is swellable in a pharmaceutically acceptable solution and has a diameter of from about 10 μm to about 2000 μm before swelling.
  3. 75
A composition comprising:a substantially spherical microsphere suitable for active embolization comprising at least one drug and a biocompatible polymeric material comprising polyvinylalcohol, and a non-ionic contrast agent, wherein the microsphere is swellable in a pharmaceutically acceptable solution and has a diameter of from about 10 μm to about 2000 μm before swelling.
  4. 76
A composition comprising:a substantially spherical microsphere suitable for active embolization comprising at least one drug and a biocompatible polymeric material comprising a polyvinylalcohol and sodium acrylate copolymer, and a non-ionic contrast agent, wherein the microsphere is swellable in a pharmaceutically acceptable solution and has a diameter of from about 10 μm to about 2000 μm before swelling.
  5. 77
A method for active embolization in a mammal, comprising administering the microsphere of any one of claims 1-61 and 74 to a mammal in need of treatment thereof.
  6. 78
A method for drug delivery in a mammal, comprising administering the microsphere of any one of claims 1-61 and 75-76 to a mammal in need of treatment thereof.
  7. 79
A method for active embolization in a mammal, comprising administering the composition of any one of claims 62-73 and 75-76 to a mammal in need of treatment thereof.
  8. 80
A method for drug delivery in a mammal, comprising administering the composition of any one of claims 62-73 and 75-76 to a mammal in need of treatment thereof.
  9. 81
The microsphere of any one of claims 1-61 and 75-76 wherein the microsphere is about 10% to about 90% saturated with non-ionic contrast media and about 90% to about 10% saturated with at least one drug, wherein the percent indicates the percent maximum saturation of the microsphere.
  10. 82
The composition of any one of claims 62-73 and 75-76 wherein the microsphere is about 10% to about 90% saturated with non-ionic contrast media and about 90% to about 10% saturated with at least one drug, wherein the percent indicates the percent maximum saturation of the microsphere.
