A method of facilitating Push-to-talk over Cellular, abbreviated as, PoC communication sessions between mobile stations adapted to communicate via wireless signals in a wireless communication network, comprising:maintaining a first Push-to-talk over Cellular communication session (550) between a first user group (504) of mobile stations;and maintaining a second PoC communication session (552) between a second user group (506) of mobile stations concurrently while maintaining the first PoC communication session (550) between the first user group (504) of mobile stations, where at least a first mobile station (516) is a common member with both the first user group (504) and the second user group (506) in the first and the second PoC communication sessions (550, 552), and the first user group (504) of mobile stations has at least a second mobile station (510) which is a non-member of the second user group (506) outside of the second PoC communication session (552).
  2. 5
The method of any preceding claim, further comprising:prior to concurrently maintaining the second PoC group communication session (552), receiving or sending an invitation for the second PoC group communication session (552);and wherein the act of concurrently maintaining the second PoC group communication session (552) is in response to an invitation acceptance to the second PoC group communication session (552).
  3. 6
The method of any preceding claim, further comprising:receiving data packets from both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552);receiving an end user selection for communications associated with only one of the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) at a time;and in response to the end user selection, causing data packets of only the selected PoC group communication session to be processed for outputting audible signals of only the selected PoC communication session.
  4. 7
The method of any of claims 1 to 5, further comprising:receiving data packets from both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552);receiving an end user selection for communications with both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) at the same time;and in response to the end user selection, causing data packets of both the first and second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) to be processed and mixing audio signals of both the first and second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) for output at a mobile station.
  5. 8
The method of any preceding claim, further comprising:receiving encrypted data packets of the second PoC communication session (552);if a decryption key for the encrypted data packets for the second PoC communication session (552) is known, decrypting the encrypted data packets for the second PoC communication session (552);and if the decryption key of the encrypted data packets for the second PoC communication session (552) is unknown, refraining from decrypting the encrypted data packets for the second PoC communication session (552).
  6. 9
The method of any preceding claim, further comprising:visually displaying an indication (910) which indicates which one of the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) is being processed for communications.
  7. 10
A mobile station (102), comprising:a wireless transceiver (108) operative for communications using wireless signals via a wireless communication network (104);one or more processors (106) coupled to the wireless transceiver (108);the one or more processors (106) being operative to: maintain a first Push-to-talk over Cellular, abbreviated as, PoC communication session (550) between a first user group (504) of mobile stations;and maintain a second PoC communication session (552) between a second user group (506) of mobile stations concurrently while maintaining the first PoC communication session (550) between the first user group (504) of mobile stations, where the mobile station (102) is a common member (516) with both the first user group (504) and the second user group (506) in the first and the second PoC communication sessions (550, 552), the first user group (504) of mobile stations having at least one mobile station which is a non-member (510) of the second user group (506) outside of the second PoC communication session (552).
  8. 13
The mobile station (102) of any of claims 10, 11, or 12, wherein the one or more processors (106) are further operative to:receiving data packets from both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552);receive an end user selection for communications associated with only one of the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) at a time;and in response to the end user selection, cause data packets of only the selected PoC group communication session to be processed for outputting audible signals of only the selected PoC communication session.
  9. 14
The mobile station (102) of any of claims 10, 11, or 12, wherein the one or more processors (106) are further operative to:receiving data packets from both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552);receive an end user selection for communications with both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) at the same time;and in response to the end user selection, cause the data packets of both the first and second PoC group communication sessions (550, 552) to be processed for outputting audible signals from both the first and the second PoC group communication sessions (550, 550) simultaneously.
