    An electronic timepiece (100) with a radio communication function, comprising:a case member (1) made of metal or metal alloy, the case member having a tubular shape having first and second ends along a tubular axis, at least the first end being open;a back cover (3) for covering the second end of the case member (1);a photoelectric generating means (6) housed inside the case member (1) and facing outward to receive light through the first end of the case member (1), and having a photoelectric conversion unit (61) for generating electricity with the received light, and a support substrate (62) for supporting the photoelectric conversion unit;a time display means (21, 221, 222) for showing time;a drive means (43A, 43B) for driving the time display means (21, 221, 222) using power from the photoelectric generating means (6);and an antenna (5) housed inside the case member (1) at a back cover side of the photoelectric generation means (6), in a position overlapping the support substrate (62) when seen in a plan view of the electronic timepiece (100);wherein the antenna (5) is disposed with the antenna axis substantially parallel to the plane of the support substrate (62);the electronic timepiece (100) being characterised in that : said back cover (3) is made of metal or metal alloy;said support substrate is made of nonconductive and nonmagnetic material;and a distance between said antenna (5) and said photoelectric generating means (6) is less than the distance between said antenna (5) and said back cover (3) when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece (100).

    An electronic timepiece (100) with a radio communication function, comprising:a case member (1) made of metal or metal alloy, the case member having a tubular shape having first and second ends along a tubular axis, at least the first end being open;a back cover (3) for covering the second end of the case member (1);a photoelectric generating means (6) housed inside the case member (1) and facing outward to receive light through the first end of the case member (1), and having a photoelectric conversation unit (61) for generating electricity with the received light, and a support substrate (62) for supporting the photoelectric conversion unit;a time display means (21, 221, 222) for showing time;a drive means (43A, 43B) for driving the time display means (21, 221, 222) using power from the photoelectric generating means (6);and an antenna (5) housed inside the case member (1) and disposed with the antenna axis substantially parallel to the plane of the support substrate (62);the electronic timepiece (100) being characterised in that : said back cover (3) is made of metal or metal alloy;and in that said antenna (5) is disposed with at least both ends disposed in a position not overlapping the support substrate (62) when seen in a plan view of the electronic timepiece (100), a distance between said antenna (5) and said photoelectric generating means (6) being less than the distance between said antenna (5) and said back cover (3) when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece (100).

    An electronic timepiece (100) with a radio communication function, comprising:a case member (1) made of metal or metal alloy, the case member having a tubular shape having first and second ends along a tubular axis, at least the first end being open;a back cover (3) for covering the second end of the case member (1);a photoelectric generating means (6) housed inside the case member (1) and facing outward to receive light through the first end of the case member (1), and having a photoelectric conversion unit (61) for generating electricity with the received light, and a support substrate (62) for supporting the photoelectric conversion unit;a time display means (21, 221, 222) for showing time: drive means (43A, 43B) for driving the time display means (21, 221, 222) using power from the photoelectric generating means (6);and an antenna (5) housed inside the case member (1) and disposed with the antenna axis substantially parallel to the plane of the support substrate (62);the electronic timepiece (100) being characterised in that : said back cover (3) is made of metal or metal alloy;the distance between said antenna (5) and said photoelectric generating means (6) is less than the distance between said antenna (5) and said back cover (3) when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece (100);the photoelectric generating means (6) is separated into a plurality of segments with the support substrate (62) of at least one segment being made of a high permeability material;and at least one of the ends of the antenna (5) is magnetically connected to the support substrate made of high permeability material.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the antenna (5) is disposed in contact with the photoelectric generating means (6) or at a position where the gap to the photoelectric generating means is within a specified dimension.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the centre (N) of the antenna (5) is located on the photoelectric generating means side of the centre (P) of the case member when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a cover member (23) covering the first end of the case member (1), and a dial (21) disposed between the photoelectric generating means (6) and said cover member (23), said cover member and dial being made from a nonconductive and nonmagnetic material.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of claims 2 to 7, wherein the support substrate (62) is made from a nonconductive and nonmagnetic material.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein no component of the electronic timepiece is disposed between the antenna (5) and the photoelectric generating means (6) when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein at least one component of the electronic timepiece is disposed between the antenna (5) and back cover (3) when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the antenna (5) has a core (51) and a coil (52) wound around the core, and at least one of the ends of the core is bent towards said open end portion of the case member.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the time display means comprises 12-hour analogue clock hands; and the axis of the antenna (5) is disposed substantially parallel to the direction joining a position where the hands point to 3:00 and a position where the hands point to 9:00.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the time display means includes a dial (21) visible from the first end of the case member (1);the drive means (43A, 43B) is located between the dial and back cover, and has an electromagnetic motor driven by induction voltage from a drive coil;and the centre (N) of the antenna (5) is located on the dial side of the centre (M) of the drive means when seen in a side view of the electronic timepiece.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the drive means includes a piezoelectric actuator for driving the time display means by vibration of a piezoelectric element.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function as described in any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a secondary battery (49) for storing power from the photoelectric generating means (6), and at least one of a gear train (44A, 44B) disposed to the drive means and having gears, a switching unlit (13) enabling switching the time display means for manual external operation, a quartz oscillator (411) unit having a quartz oscillator, and a control block (423) for controlling operation of the drive means;the antenna (5) being located opposite the secondary battery (49) with at least one of the gear train, switching unit, quartz oscillator unit, and control block therebetween when seen in a plan view of the electronic timepiece

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the second end is closed.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the back cover (3) is integral with or attached to the case member (1).

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein at least one of the case member (1) and the back cover (3) comprises a moulded synthetic resin coated with a thin film having metallic properties.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein at least a part of the antenna (5) is located overlapping a calendar display wheel (45), which is made of a non-conductive and non-magnetic material, when seen in a plan view of the electronic timepiece.

    An electronic timepiece with a radio communication function according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the distance between the antenna (5) and the photoelectric generating means (6) is a distance from a centre (N) of the antenna (5) to a back cover side of the photoelectric generating means (6) and the distance between the antenna (5) and the back cover (3) is a distance from the centre (N) of the antenna (5) to a photoelectric generating means side of the back cover (3).
