Cellular communication system with soft handover and apparatus therefor

When a mobile station enters a soft handover state, a reception quality monitoring means monitors reception quality of downward signals from the plural base stations that are in the soft handover state and outputs a sub-signal comprising the monitoring results and signals indicative of the base stations corresponding to the respective results. The mobile station sent the sub-signal by a transmitting means to the plural base stations that are in the soft handover state, wherein the sub-signal is received by a receiving means of each base station.
