  1. 1
A hand implement (100) comprising:a first arm (120) and a second arm (110), each disposed in a first plane;a finger grip loop (172) at a proximal end of said first arm (120);a thumb grip loop (182) at a proximal end of said second arm (110);and wherein the first and second arms (120, 110) have fingers (130,132) extending from their other ends bent downwardly from the first plane and separable by pivotal movement of the finger grip loop (172) and thumb grip loop (182) relative to each other, characterized in that the assembly includes a forefinger control surface (192) comprising a forefinger well or cup (193) having a proximally facing forward wall (196) extending upwardly from the plane defined by the arms and spaced from said finger grip loop (172) to provide a proximally and upwardly facing recess adapted to receive the distal end of the tip of the user's forefinger;whereby while the user's thumb is positioned in the thumb grip loop and the user has at least one other finger positioned in the finger grip loop to apply a squeezing force in the direction of relative movement of the thumb grip loop and finger grip loop, the user can exert a downward and/or distally directed force via the recess provided by forefinger control surface(192) and proximally facing wall (196) without slipping of the forefinger.
  2. 2
The hand implement according to claim I further comprising:first and second instrument fingers (132, 130), disposed in a second plane at an angle of 20 to 80 degrees below said first plane, extending distally from the distal ends of the first and second arms (120, 110), respectively, in a first direction along said second plane when the instrument fingers (132, 130) are positioned adjacent each other;and wherein said forefinger control surface (192) has a proximally facing curved wall (196) surface to enable the user's forefinger to stably bear on said proximally facing curved wall (196) surface in a second direction substantially parallel to said first direction when the handle assembly is held in one hand by the user, using said finger grip loop (172) and said thumb grip loop (182).
  3. 3
The hand implement according to claims 1 or 2, wherein said proximally facing wall (196) surface comprises a concave portion contoured to receive the distal end of the tip of the user's forefinger.
  4. 4
The hand implement according to claims 1 or 2, wherein said forefinger control surface (192) comprises a well (193) extending below an upper surface of the arm (120).
  5. 6
The hand implement according to claims 1 or 2, wherein the first and second arms (120, 110) are coupled by a pivot spaced from the forefinger control surface (192).
  6. 8
The hand implement according to claims 1 or 2, wherein said forefinger control surface (192) is positioned to enable a user's forefinger to press downward and forward while maintaining a 3-point stabilized position for control of the handle assembly.
