Socket for the connection of flat contact pins.
Abstract
The socket is used for the connection of flat contact pins as are used in plug connecting devices for test purposes, especially in car construction. The socket (1), which allows frequent plug-in cycles with low insertion forces, comprises a contact spring support having two supporting walls (2, 3) which are essentially parallel to one another. Said walls (2, 3) are fitted, preferably on both inner sides, in each case with one row of contact springs (4) which are domed in such a manner that a gap (5) is formed by the domes which point towards one another, which gap (5) expands elastically when a flat contact pin is inserted, thus making contact. The ends (6, 7) of each contact spring (4) are bent around towards one another on the outside of the associated supporting wall (2, 3). The two supporting walls (2, 3) are connected to one another via a lateral wall (12) which determines the distance between them. A bearing wall (14) which bounds the insertion gap (5) for the flat contact pins is provided on the edges (13) of the supporting walls (2, 3) which are placed on the lateral wall (12). …<IMAGE>…

The invention relates to a contact socket for the connection of flat contact tongues. Contact systems of this type are widely in automotive applications, in power supply circuits of motor vehicles. The known contact sleeves are typically made of sheet metal strips of a width exceeding the width of the flat contact tongues by an amount which allows the lateral stripe regions by approximately 270 ° so to bend toward each other, that the strip edges at a short distance from the surface of the middle area of the sheet metal strip end. When establishing a connection contact, the contact spring tongue is pressed with their lateral edges under as it were, rolled lateral stripe regions of the sheet metal strip of the female contact. Although contact sockets of this type allow a low-cost production and take up little space. The contact is allowed but mostly to be desired. For frequent insertions such contact bushes are not suitable. They can therefore not be used in plug-in devices for testing purposes, as they are used in particular in automotive construction and in repair shops, for example for fault diagnosis of motor vehicles.
A structurally simple contact socket that allows large mating cycles, without causing an adverse change in the current transfer resistance, is inventively essentially by a contact spring carrier with two substantially mutually parallel supporting walls, on which preferably two Inner page (s) each have a series of such curved contact springs is / are arranged in that the bulges directed toward one another at an introduction of a flat reed with contact making elastic aufweitender gap is formed. In this way, dependent on the number of contact springs multiple contact operation and thus a high current carrying capacity with low contact resistance, yet low insertion forces is ensured.
The contact springs may at its one, preferably that of the insertion side of the flat end facing away from the contact tongues in each case to the associated support wall by a clamping or a soldered connection to be established. A particularly simple fixation and mounting possibility arises however, if the ends of each contact spring on the outer side of the associated supporting wall towards each other bent and when the distance between the two Umbiegestellen is selected from each other by the size of the contact spring camber determining degree greater each contact spring and the distance between the carrying wall edges on which the towards each other bent ends of the contact springs rest. Due to the tendency of the contact springs to relax in its initial state with greater curvature, resulting in the assembled state as a result of spring elongation and the resulting therefrom lesser curvature firm support of the springs on the supporting wall edges and a favorable in terms of making contact with the flat contact prong preload.
Alternatively to the aforesaid clamping or soldered connection preferably at the opposite the insertion side of the flat contact tongues end according to the invention can also be provided, that the contact springs are designed as one piece then with the respectively associated support wall, is bent back on it and the respective free end of the contact springs to the corresponding carrying wall edge is bent back. In this case, the contact springs must be bent back only at one end. The assembly is characterized simple.
For further simplification can be punched together with the associated contact springs from a sheet or are each supporting wall.
Of course, supporting walls and contact springs can be stamped from a sheet of constant thickness or strength. However, its flexural rigidity are provided completely different requirements as to the contact springs in terms of, for example, to the supporting walls as supporting or holding elements. Therefore, it is preferable in the invention that the sheet metal from which the supporting wall and the associated contact springs are punched, is stepped in its strength. For example, while the portion of the sheet forming the subsequent carrying wall, be performed stronger than the later, the contact springs forming part.
When very low in terms of structure, it has been found when the two supporting walls are interconnected by a spacing of the supporting walls defining each other bulkhead. In this way it is possible to prepare the main component of the female contact forming contact spring carrier as a unitary stamped and bent part.
In a very advantageous further embodiment a the introduction gap limiting for flat reed support wall is provided on the said transverse wall remote edges of the base walls.
This retaining wall could be fixed to the edges of the support walls by a welded or soldered connection. A simpler connection arises when the support wall transversely extending away with from her, at a right angle bent retaining tabs is provided, each of which rest on the outside of one of the supporting walls and make their toward each bent ends the firm grip of the retaining wall on the contact spring carrier.
To prevent a structurally particularly simple manner, an axial displacement of the support wall relative to the contact spring carrier, it has proven to be favorable when the transverse wall is provided with a cutout, in the engage the bent ends of the holding tongues of the retaining wall.
As in their position next to one another very advantageous with regard to a proper position of the contact springs, it has been found, when the ends of the holding lugs are bent over by 180 ° and the support walls adjacent engage behind each of the cutout and if emanating from the end edge of the transverse wall end edges of the supporting walls are each provided with a recess, the start where the ends of the retaining tab expire and define that portion of the carrying wall edges on which support the bent ends of the contact springs.
The invention is further directed to a Prüfkontaktsteckvorrichtung with a plurality of through recesses for the reception and releasable fixing of contact sockets with the set forth above characteristics having insulator. This device is characterized in that each contact spring carrier has at least one obliquely assigned to the axis of the introduction of the flat contact tongue of the outside of the contact spring carrier away extending latching tongue, which engages behind an opening provided in the recess lateral locking shoulder when introduced into the associated recess of the insulating body. In this way it is possible to equip with Prüfkontaktsteckvorrichtungen arranged at a certain pitch contact spring fitted contact sockets, which also dissolve easily in case of need again and can be exchanged against new contact sockets.
It has proved to be very beneficial as in terms of structure, if at least one of the two retaining tabs of the retaining wall a locking tongue is integrally formed.
In terms of design, it is very advantageous if, in a Prüfkontaktsteckvorrichtung with one of the current lead connection projection serving the connection projection of each contact socket of the line connecting the support walls transverse wall emanates. Here, the connection projection with the fixed connection of a cable enabling crimp lugs can be provided in a variant.
If, however, a Prüfkontaktsteckvorrichtung with highly stressed contact sockets, which are to be regarded as a kind of wearing parts, the connection projection is expediently an enabling form the easily detachable connection of a connected to a contact spring connector cable, an approximately round contact pin.
