Disposable diaper.
Abstract
An absorbent member such as cotton-like pulp is covered with a liq. permeable top sheet such as a nonwoven fabric and a liq.-impermeable back sheet such as a plastic film comprises leakage-proofing means around the legs and/or the waist. The leakage-proofing means consists of a flexible flap such as a nonwoven fabric and a flexible member such as rubber. The flap consists of a leg portion projecting upward from a diaper body and inner and outer branches extending inward and outward from the leg portion. The flexible member is fitted to the branches to serve as contractive flexible gathers. The branches comes into flexible and pressure contact with the body (around the thigh and/or the waist) of a wearer to form a seal.

Technical area:
The present invention relates to a disposable diaper of the type which does not require a diaper cover, more particularly to such diapers which are provided in the areas where the thighs and / or hips are enclosed with leakage preventing means having elastic flaps.
State of the art:
In UK 2 181 336A diapers are described which are provided with anti-spillage means having elastic flaps which are respectively wrapped around the legs of the baby. These leakage preventing means disclosed herein have first flaps which extend outwardly and are respectively provided with elastic members, and second flaps in the side edge of which an elastic member is incorporated, while the opposite side edge is incorporated with a main body of the article connected is. One of these side edges is depressed inwardly and secured to the longitudinally opposite ends.
Each of the second flaps is formed as a pocket to prevent any flow of exudates in the transverse direction when this flap is raised under the action of its associated elastic means. In a diaper having such a construction, the pockets are open around the legs of the wearer, the second flaps being erected against the crotch area under the contracting force of the associated elastic members (the crotch area is defined as the area between the two legs). At the same time, the first flaps are folded against the inner sides of the article and pressed against the associated legs under the influence of the associated elastic parts.
It should be emphasized that the extent to which these pockets are opened depends on the angle at which the second flaps are raised. For example, if the wearer assumes a posture or posture of the legs in which the legs are widely spread so that the second flaps are stretched, or if the wearer sits down with the second flaps pressed down, those pockets are insufficiently opened so that the desired blocking effect of these bags against flow of excreta, particularly loose exudates and urine, can not be maintained and unpleasant run-out phenomena may occur.
The invention has as its main object to provide a diaper of the type mentioned, in which each situation a perfect seal is achieved by the anti-leakage agent: - The leakage preventing means each have a flexible flap and one or more elastic parts; the flap has a support portion extending upwardly from the diaper, an inner inner branch portion extending inwardly from the support portion, and an outer branch portion extending outwardly from the support portion; - The one or more elastic (s) part (s) is (are) at least partially incorporated in the inner and outer branch portions and form elastic folds; and - At least the respective inner surfaces of the support portion and the inner branch portion together form pockets for receiving waste.
Disclosure of the invention:
The object is achieved in a disposable diaper with a liquid-permeable upper, a liquid-impermeable lower layer, an inserted between two layers absorbent core and leakage-preventing agents that are elasticized by incorporated elastic parts by the following feature combinations.
It is preferred to arrange a pair of such leak preventive means about each leg of the carrier, along opposing longitudinally extending sides of the absorbent core, such that the inner branch portions are usually biased against the associated one under the action of the elastic means Thighs are pressed, instead of the crotch area, so that the at least formed by the respective inner surfaces of the inner branch portions and the associated support portions bags in their corresponding open position, regardless of the attitude or position of the wearer are held open th. This has the consequence that the pockets can effectively prevent the leakage of excretions, especially loose excreta and urine. At the same time, the inner branch portions cooperate with the outer branch portions to provide a high sealing effect necessary to prevent the leakage of excrement; This is achieved in that the outer branch sections, which run next to the inner branch sections, are also pressed elastically against the associated legs.
If desired, these leak preventive agents may also be provided along the waist or waist belt of the diaper to achieve the same high level of sealing effect.

Preferred embodiments of the earth tie:
In the following the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. First, reference is made to FIG. 1. The disposable diaper shown therein has a liquid-permeable upper layer 1, a liquid-impermeable lower layer 2, a suction core 3 sandwiched between these two layers, hip and side flaps 4, 5 each formed by portions of the two layers extending from each other extend outwardly opposite longitudinal and transverse edges of the absorbent core and adhesive tapes 6 which are secured to the opposite lateral ends of the hip valve.
As can also be seen from FIG. 2, the disposable diaper also has second flaps 7, which extend along the respective flaps 5. Each of the side flaps 7 is formed from a single layer into a sleeve or loop having a T-shaped cross-section with a support portion 8 fixed on top of the surface of the associated flap 5, an inner branch portion 9 extending from the upper end of the flap Support portion extends inwardly and an outer branch portion 10 which extends from the upper end of the support portion 8 to the outside. The inner and outer support sections 9, 10 contain a relatively wide elastic part 11, which is common to both branch sections. The elastic part 11 must be arranged at least in the crotch area of the diaper.
The inner branch portion 9 and / or the outer branch portion 10 is / are preferably attached to the associated flap at the opposite longitudinal ends or the longitudinal end in the front region of the diaper. Such attachment may be achieved in various ways, for example by attaching the inner branch portion 9 to the opposite longitudinal ends indicated at 12 in Fig. 1, by securing the outer branch portion 10 to the longitudinally opposite ends, by fastening both the inner and outer branch portions 9, 10 at the longitudinally opposite ends (see Fig. 5), by fixing the inner branch portion at the longitudinal end located in the front portion of the diaper;
As for the width at which the inner and outer branch portions 9, 10 each extend laterally, the width of the inner branch portion may be substantially equal to the width of the outer branch portion, as shown in FIG. However, the former may also be narrower than the latter, as shown in Fig. 3, or the former may be wider than the latter, cf. Fig. 4.
Due to the broad design of the inner branch portion 9, the precipitates collected in the pocket do not come into contact with the skin of the wearer, whereby a particularly pleasant wearing comfort is given.
The manner in which the inner and outer branch portions 9, 10 are attached to the opposite longitudinal ends, as well as the degree of width with which these portions extend laterally, is selected so as to provide optimum wearing conditions while generally taking into account the various factors, how size of the diaper, distance of the absorbent core 3 to each flap 7 and height of the support portion 8 can be achieved.
FIGS. 6 to 10 show different variants of the above-described embodiment, which have the same effects as the described embodiment.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 6 each flap 7 consists of an inner and an outer portion 9,10, which are each formed separately from each other into corresponding loops or sleeves comprising separate elastic parts 11.
The flap 7 of the embodiment shown in Fig. 7 has an inner and an outer branch portion, the respective free outer edges of an associated, cord-shaped elastic member 11 envelop.
The flap 7 shown in Fig. 8 has an inner branch portion 9, the free edge enclosing a single thread or cord-shaped elastic part, while the outer branch portion 10 substantially over its entire width a plurality of thread-like or cord-shaped elastic parts 11 together encloses ,
The flap 7 shown in Fig. 9 has an inner and an outer branch portion 9 and 10, which are formed from a single layer into a T-shaped sleeve. The portions include the elastic member 11 which has a concave upward open cross-section. In this embodiment, the width of the upper layer 1 is less than that of the lower layer 2, to keep the outer side portions of the lower layer 2 free of a permeable upper layer. In place of this top layer 1, the base portion 13 of the support portion 8 is glued onto the impermeable backsheet 2 to cover the associated outer side area with this base portion 13.
In the embodiments according to FIGS. 6 to 8, the flaps 7 are formed by two separate layers, which are glued together along the two lower halves to form the support section 8. In the upper region, the two layers are each free and formed to the inner or outer sections 9 and 10, resulting in a branch line, which results from the common boundary line of sections 9 and 10. As a result, the inner and outer portions 9 and 10 each have a tendency to bend upward along the branch line to a V when the respective elastic members 11 contract to some extent. While the inner and outer branch portions 9,10 of the embodiments of Figs. 2 and 4 and 9 also tend to bend upwards,
In the embodiments shown in Figs. 2 to 9, the base end 13 of the support portion 8 is preferably outwardly of the support portion, but the present invention is not limited to such an arrangement.
The flap 7 of the embodiment of FIG. 10 is identical in shape and construction to the embodiment of FIG. 2 except that in the former the base end 13 of the support portion 8 between the portion of the upper layer 1, which under the side edge of the absorbent core. 3 is hammered and the portion of the lower layer 2, which covers the said portion of the upper layer 1, interposed and fixed thereto.
In all the embodiments shown in FIGS. 2 to 10, a pocket 14 is formed by the inner surfaces of the support section 8 and the inner branch section 9. While the bag is being formed even if the inner branch portion and / or the outer branch portion 10 are fixed at the longitudinal ends, it is preferable to perform such fixing so that the direction in which the bag is opened is stable.
Figures 11 and 12 show a variant of the inner branch portion of the aforementioned embodiments. According to this variant, the pair of opposing inner branch portions 9 respectively follow the curves gradually approaching each other to form the central portion of the front and rear portions of the disposable diaper, the string or thread-shaped elastic portions 11a along these respective curves are angeorndet. Along the outer branch portions 10 relatively wide elastic parts 11 b are incorporated. In this embodiment, relatively wide elastic members 15 are provided between the topsheet 1 and the backsheet 2 along the respective waist flaps 4.
The topsheet 1 may be made of a nonwoven fabric, a porous plastic film or the like, the backsheet may be made of an air-permeable plastic film, a laminate sheet of such a film and a non-woven fabric or the like, the absorbent core 3 of a fluffy pulp, a mixture of such Pulp and highly absorbent polymer particles or a similar material. Therefore, the various types of materials commonly used for such a diaper can be optionally used, however, the present invention is not limited to the use of these materials.
The flap is preferably made of a material that is at least partially as flexible as possible, permeable to air and impermeable to water. The flap 7 may be permeable to air and impermeable to water in the support section 8, the outer branch section 10, the support section 8 and the outer section 10, or the support section 8 and the inner section 9 as well as the outer branch section 10. Such material is permeable to air and impermeable to water comprises nonwoven fabrics, porous plastic films and laminates thereof.
The elastic member 11 may be made of a material commonly used for such a member, eg, natural or synthetic rubber, plastics such as polyurethane or other plastics which tend to develop or maintain elasticity during a heat treatment. However, the present invention is not limited to the use of such a particular material. It is understood that when a relatively wide elastic member is used, as in the case of the embodiment of FIG. 2 to 6, 19 and 11 (here the reference numeral 11b) polyurethane foam can be preferably used.
Although the flaps 7, each having a support portion 8 and inner and outer branch portions 9 and 10, have been described as being arranged in the crotch area of the disposable diaper, the flaps 7 may also be in the rear waist flap 4 and the flaps 5 in the crotch area or be provided only in the flaps 4.
The formation of the flaps 7 in the crotch region of the disposable diaper as a means for preventing leakage around the respective thighs in the manner described above ensures that, when the diaper has been put on, the inner and outer branch portions 9 and 10 are elastically pressed against the respective legs without remaining within the range defined between the cycles, and that the pockets 14 formed at least from the respective inner surfaces of the support portion 8 and the associated inner branch portions 9 reliably each Prevent leakage of excretions. When the hip flap 4 of the disposable diaper with the flap 7 is provided around the hip as an escape-preventing means, it is ensured that that the inner and outer branch portions 9 and 10 are pressed elastically against the hip and the pocket 14, which is formed at least by the respective inner surfaces of the support portion 8 and the inner branch portion 9, reliably prevents any outflow of exudates. It should be understood that the function and effect provided by such leakage preventing means become optimal when such means are formed on opposite sides of the diaper in the crotch area.
Commercial application:
It will be appreciated from the foregoing description that the disposable diaper of the present invention is suitable as a diaper which does not require any additional diaper cover. The leakage preventing means incorporated in this diaper, together with elastic holding means, are useful not only as a seal around the thighs but also together with the elastic holding means as a seal around the waist.
