Room air conditioner.

Abstract

A room air conditioner is equipped with an input switch mechanism having a first switch (15a) which the user presses when he feels hot and a second switch (15b) which the user presses when he feels cold. A microcomputer (10) controls the operation of the air conditioner in response to input signals from the input switch mechanism. When the user presses the first (15a) or second switch (15b), the microcomputer (10) automatically changes the set temperature (Ts) in the direction tending to relieve the user's sense of discomfort. The microcomputer (10) also controls the air conditioner operation so as to temporarily change the temperature of air which is discharged into the room being air conditioned in the direction tending to relieve the user's sense of discomfort. The discharge air temperature can be changed by changing the rotational speed of indoor blowers which discharge air into the room, by changing the rotational speed of the compressor (6), by changing the degree of opening of an electronic expansion valve in a refrigerant loop, or by changing the direction of louvers for discharge air so that the discharge air enters directly into the intake port of the air conditioner.

  1. 1
A room air conditioner comprising:an indoor heat exchanger which performs heat exchange between intake air from a room being air conditioned and a refrigerant;an outdoor heat exchanger which performs heat exchange between said refrigerant and the outside air;a compressor for refrigerant which is connected with said indoor heat exchanger and said outdoor heat exchanger so as to form a closed refrigerant loop;indoor blowing means for discharging air which has passed through said indoor said heat exchanger into said room;room temperature sensing means for sensing the temperature of said room;control means responsive to said room temperature sensing means for determining a set temperature and turning the compressor on and off based on the difference between said room temperature and said set temperature;user-operated discomfort-indicating means for producing an output signal when the user feels hot and for producing another output signal when the user feels cold;temperature-changing means for temporarily changing the temperature of the discharge air from said indoor heat exchanger in the direction tending to alleviate the user's sense of discomfort when there is an output signal from said discomfort-indicating means.
