    CA 02860244 2016-10-28 THÉ EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION FOR WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:1. A method of reducing deposited mineral content on keratinous tissue, comprising: 1) contacting keratinous tissue with a shampoo composition comprising: a. from about 0.01 wt% to about 10 wt% of a chelant (L), wherein the chelant has i. a log KcaL of less than -2, and ii. a log Kcul of 3 or more or a log K Fe L of 10 or more, wherein the log Kc a L is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Ca +2 calculated at pH 5, the log Kcul is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Cu +2 calculated at pH 5, and the log K Fe L is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Fe +3 calculated at pH 5;b. a buffer system comprising an organic acid and/or a salt thereof, wherein the organic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid or a polycarboxylic acid;c. from about 2 wt% to about 50 wt% of a detersive surfactant;and d. a carrier, wherein the buffer system is present in a sufficient quantity to provide the shampoo composition with a pH from about 2 to about 6 at 25°C, and

    2) rinsing the shampoo composition from the keratinous tissue. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein a 1:10 diluted sample of the shampoo composition has a pH from about 3 to about 6, the diluted sample prepared from 1 part shampoo composition and 10 parts water (v/v). 3. The method of claim 1, wherein a 1:100 diluted sample of the shampoo composition has a pH from 3 to 6, the diluted sample prepared from 1 part shampoo composition and 100 parts water (v/v). CA 02860244 2016-10-28 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the shampoo composition has a pH from about 3 to about 4.5 at 25°C. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the alpha-hydroxy acid is citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, or combinations thereof, or wherein the polycarboxylic acid is malonic acid. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the organic acid is citric acid, malonic acid, or a combination thereof. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the organic acid is citric acid. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the chelant has a log Kc 3 l / log K Cu l value at a pH of 5 of less than 0.3. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the chelant has a log Kc 3 l / log Kc u l value at a pH of 5 of less than 0.05. 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the chelant is selected from the group consisting of ethylenediamine-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid) (EDDHA);ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS);2hydroxypropylendiamin-N-N'-disucinnic acid (HPDDS);salts thereof, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the chelant is ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS). 12. The method of claim 1, wherein the shampoo composition comprises from about 8 wt% to about 25 wt% of a detersive surfactant. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the shampoo composition comprises from about 10 wt% to about 20 wt% of a detersive surfactant. CA 02860244 2016-10-28 14. A method of reducing deposited mineral content on keratinous tissue, comprising: contacting keratinous tissue with a shampoo composition comprising: from about 0.01 wt% to about 10 wt% of a chelant (L), wherein the chelant has a log KcaL of less than -2, and a log KcuL of 3 or more, or a log KpeL of 10 or more, wherein the log KcaL is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Ca +2 calculated at pH 5, the log Kcul is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Cu +2 calculated at pH 5, and the log KFcl is the log of a conditional stability constant of the chelant with Fe +3 calculated at pH 5;and wherein the chelant has a log Kc 3 l / log Kc u l value at a pH of 5 of less than 0.3;a buffer system comprising an organic acid and/or a salt thereof, wherein the organic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid or a polycarboxylic acid;from about 2 wt% to about 50 wt% of a detersive surfactant;and a carrier, wherein the buffer system is present in a sufficient quantity to provide the shampoo composition with a pH from about 2 to about 4.5 at 25°C, and rinsing the shampoo composition from the keratinous tissue. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the chelant has a log KcaL / log Kqil value at a pH of 5 of less than 0.05. 16. The method of claim 14, wherein the chelant is selected from the group consisting of ethylenediamine-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid) (EDDHA);ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS);2hydroxypropylendiamin-N-N'-disucinnic acid (HPDDS);salts thereof, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof. 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the chelant is ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS). CA 02860244 2016-10-28 18. The method of claim 14, wherein the shampoo composition comprises from about 8 wt% to about 25 wt% of a detersive surfactant. f 9. The method of claim 18, wherein the shampoo composition comprises from about 10 wt% to about 20 wt% of a detersive surfactant. 20. The method of claim 14, wherein the alpha-hydroxy acid is citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, or combinations thereof, or wherein the polycarboxylic acid is malonic acid. 21. The method of claim 20, wherein the organic acid is citric acid, malonic acid, or combination thereof. 22. The method of claim 21, wherein the organic acid is citric acid. 23. The method of claim 14, wherein the chelant is selected from the group consisting of ethylenediamine-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid) (EDDHA);ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS);2hydroxypropylendiamin-N-N'-disucinnic acid (HPDDS);salts thereof, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof;the organic acid is citric acid, malonic acid, or a combination thereof;and the shampoo composition comprises from about 10 wt% to about 20 wt% of a detersive surfactant. 24. The method of claim 23, wherein the chelant is ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS) and the organic acid is citric acid. 25. The method of claim 14, wherein the shampoo composition has a pH from about 3 to about 4.5 at 25°C. 26. A method of reducing deposited mineral content on keratinous tissue, comprising: contacting keratinous tissue with a shampoo composition comprising: from about 0.01 wt% to about 10 wt% of a chelant (L), wherein the chelant is selected from the group consisting of ethylenediamine-N,N'-bis(2CA 02860244 2016-10-28 hydroxyphenylacetic acid) (EDDHA);ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS);2-hydroxypropylendiamin-N-N'-disucinnic acid (HPDDS);salts thereof, derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof;a buffer system comprising an organic acid and/or a salt thereof, wherein the organic acid is selected from citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, malonic acid, salts thereof, and combinations thereof;from about 8 wt% to about 25 wt% of a detersive surfactant;and a carrier, wherein the buffer system is present in a sufficient quantity to provide the shampoo composition with a pH from about 2 to about 4.5 at 25°C, and rinsing the shampoo composition from the keratinous tissue. 27. The method of claim 26, wherein the shampoo composition has a pH from about 3 to about 4.5 at 25°C. 28. The method of claim 27, wherein the chelant is ethylene diamine disuccinic acid (EDDS). 29. The method of claim 28, wherein organic acid is citric acid and wherein the shampoo composition comprises from about 10 wt% to about 20 wt% of an anionic detersive surfactant.
