Trusted agents for open electronic commerce

Abstract

A system for open electronic com-merce having a customer trusted agent se-curely communicating with a first moneymodule, and a merchant trusted agent se-curely communicating with a second moneymodule. Both trusted agents are capable ofestablishing a first cryptographically securesession, and both money modules are capa-ble of establishing a second cryptographicallysecure session. The merchant trusted agenttransfers electronic merchandise to the cus-tomer trusted agent, and the first money mod-ule transfers electronic money to the secondmoney module. The money modules informtheir trusted agents of the successful comple-tion of payment, and the customer may usethe purchased electronic merchandise.
