Valve actuating apparatuses and methods associated therewith

A combination comprising: a container (50) of product having a longitudinal dimension and a valve (66) oriented to discharge product generally longitudinally from the container (50); a housing (60) including a first portion (70, 72) wall enclosing a main body of the container and a second part (61) wall, tapered, adjacent the first portion (70, 72) wall, and which tapers towards a discharge opening (62), whose discharge opening has a dimension, in cross section, larger than the radius of the container, and an apparatus (140) for actuating the valve, which extends laterally from the valve and that is in interfering relationship with the first part (70, 72) wall, in which the relative movement of the container (50) towards the discharge opening, causes the apparatus (140) for actuating the valve is moved against the first portion (70, 72) wall to actuate the valve and dispense product from the housing (60).
