    A method for providing a forward audio channel enable or disable for at least one audio channel in a digital data interface communication data link, the method comprising the steps of:formatting an enable or disable packet for transmission from a host to a client comprising: providing an audio channel enable mask wherein each bit within the mask represents at least one unique audio channel, the at least one unique audio channel comprising an enable or a disable;and transmitting the formatted enable or disable packet from the host to the client.

    A method for providing a forward audio channel enable or disable for at least one audio channel in a digital data interface communication data link, the method comprising the steps of:formatting an enable or disable packet for transmission from a host to a client comprising: providing a list containing at least one audio channel identifier, wherein each audio channel identifier in the list represents at least one unique audio channel, wherein the list further comprises an enable or disable;and transmitting the formatted enable or disable packet from the host to the client.

    A system for providing a forward audio channel enable or disable for at least one audio channel in a digital data interface communication data link, the method comprising the steps of:means for formatting an enable or disable packet for transmission from a host to a client comprising: means for providing a list containing at least one audio channel identifier, wherein each audio channel identifier in the list represents at least one unique audio channel, wherein the list further comprises an enable or a disable;and means for transmitting the formatted enable or disable packet from the host to the client.

    A method of redefining a first logic threshold and a second logic threshold for a hibernation state of a digital data interface communication system, the method comprising the steps of:sending a link shut down packet from a host to a client wherein a first logic level and a second logic level determine the first logic threshold of at least one data receiver;disabling at least one data driver and placing its output into a high impedance state by the host wherein a third logic level and a fourth logic level determine the second logic threshold of at least one hibernation receiver and wherein the forth logic level is produced by the disabled at least one data driver in the high impedance state;sending a wake up pulse to the at least one hibernation receiver, wherein the wake up pulse comprises outputting the third logic level;and detecting the wake up pulse by the at least one hibernation receiver.

    A system for redefining a first logic threshold and a second logic threshold for a hibernation state of a digital data interface communication system, the system comprising:means for sending a link shut down packet from a host to a client wherein a first logic level and a second logic level determine the first logic threshold of at least one data receiver;means for disabling at least one data driver and placing its output into a high impedance state by the host wherein a third logic level and a fourth logic level determine the second logic threshold of at least one hibernation receiver and wherein the forth logic level is produced by the disabled at least one data driver in the high impedance state;means for sending a wake up pulse to the at least one hibernation receiver, wherein the wake up pulse comprises outputting the third logic level;and means for detecting the wake up pulse by the at least one hibernation receiver.

    A computer program product, comprising:computer readable medium comprising: code for causing a first logic threshold and a second logic threshold for a hibernation state of a digital data interface communication system to be redefined, the computer product comprising: code for causing a link shut down packet to be sent from a host to a client wherein a first logic level and a second logic level determine the first logic threshold of at least one data receiver;code for causing at least one data driver to be disabled and its output placed into a high impedance state by the host wherein a third logic level and a fourth logic level determine the second logic threshold of at least one hibernation receiver and wherein the forth logic level is produced by the disabled at least one data driver in the high impedance state;code for causing a wake up pulse to be sent to the at least one hibernation receiver, wherein the wake up pulse comprises the third logic level output;and code for causing the wake up pulse to be detected by the at least one hibernation receiver.

    A state machine for use in obtaining synchronization in an electronic system transferring digital data at a high rate between a host device and a client device over a 160 AMENDED SHEET PCT/US2004/029529 communication path, the state machine configured to have at least one Acquiring Sync States synchronization states, and at least two In-Sync States synchronization states, wherein a condition for shifting directly between a first In-Sync State and an Acquiring Sync State is detecting the presence of a bad CRC value in any of a series of packets.

    A method of transferring digital data at a high rate between a host device and a client device over a communication path for presentation to a user, comprising:generating one or more of a plurality of pre-defined packet structures and linking them together to form a pre-defined communication protocol;communicating a pre-selected set of digital control and presentation data between said host and said client devices over said communication path using said communication protocol;coupling at least one host link controller residing in said host device to said client device through said communications path, the host link controller being configured to generate, transmit, and receive packets forming said communications protocol, and to form digital presentation data into one or more types of data packets;transferring data in the form of packets over said communications path using said link controllers;and waking up a communication link by driving a data line to a high state for at least 150 clock cycles and starting to transmit a strobe signal as if the data line was zero, by said host.

    A method of transferring error codes in a communication system in which digital data is transferred in the form of packets having CRC values between a host device and a client device over a communication path comprising detecting the presence of an error, selecting a predetermined error code corresponding to said error, and over-writing the CRC value with said code.

    A method of transferring digital data at a high rate between a host device and a client device over a communication path for presentation to a user, comprising:generating one or more of a plurality of pre-defined packet structures each including at least one CRC field, and linking them together to form a pre-defined communication protocol;162 AMENDED SHEET PCT/US2004/029529 communicating a pre-selected set of digital control and presentation data between said host and said client devices over said communication path using said communication protocol;coupling at least one host link controller residing in said host device to said client device through said communications path, the host link controller being configured to generate, transmit, and receive packets forming said communications protocol, and to form digital presentation data into one or more types of data packets;transferring data in the form of packets over said communications path using said link controllers;detecting the presence of an error for the communication link;selecting a pre-determined error code corresponding to said error;and over-writing the CRC value with said code.
