p0004The field of the invention is that of mobile telephony.
p0005In mobile telephony, there are basically two types of phone.
p0006The first type of phones are wireless telephones, private, domestic use, comprising a base and at least one mobile handset paired to the base. The base is connected to a telephone network, the switched telephone network RTC for example, typically by wire link, and the mobile handset is connected to the base by radio link.
p0007phones of the second type are arranged to communicate via a cellular telephone network base stations, usually by radio link. Examples of cellular networks include GSM, DCS 1800, etc ..
p0008To operationalize a mobile cellular network, it is generally appropriate to introduce a card supporting a chip, it is usually a standard SIM card containing the telephone authentication data through which the network cell is able to control the phone access to the cellular network so particular, to charge its communications. Without a SIM card, the phone is unusable.
p0009A cellular network mobile phone offers great freedom of movement, insofar as the cellular network has extensive geographic coverage, while the use of wireless phones is limited around the base. However, for cost reasons, it may be more advantageous in the vicinity of the base of the cordless telephone, use thereof in order to go through the network to which it is connected, rather than a cellular network.
p0010The invention proposes to take advantage of the specific benefits of wireless telephony, which are essentially cost advantages, as well as those of cellular telephony which essentially lie in mobility, simply. 2
p0011To this end, the invention relates to a mobile phone of a cellular network comprising means for corιτrnu-- quer through said cellular network, comprising means for appariemeπt arranged in a wireless telephone private base to communicate through a telephone network and the mobile phone is so arranged afraid operate either in cellular mode or private mode as handset cordless phone, it is expected selection means one of two modes, and private cell phone characterized in that the means for communicating through the cellular network comprising means for authentication of the telephone by the cellular network and the selection means is arranged, in case of selection of the private mode, for inhibiting the authentication means of the phone by the cellular network.
p0012One can use the phone is, conventionally, in cellular mode and in this case it passes through the cellular network or private mode as telephone handset wireless home and, in the other case, it passes through the network wireless phone. Thanks to that, near the base of the cordless phone, you can switch to private mode in particular to benefit from lower communications costs through the wireless phone network.
p0013In private mode, the mobile phone of the cellular network made regular phone handset function associated with the base of the cordless phone. the mobile telephone is converted into a handset cordless telephone.
p0014In a particular embodiment, the matching means to the base include means for authenticating the mobile telephone by the base.
p0015With this, we avoid the risk that a malicious third party is using the base without authorization.
p0016Preferably, the telephone comprises means for executing an initial identification record protocol to the base station.
p0017Advantageously, the mobile phone comprises means for, if necessary, warn the cellular network selecting the private mode. 3
p0018More preferably, the authentication means of the cellular network comprises a support card an authentication data storage memory.
p0019Inhibiting the authentication means, it makes the phone usable with or without authentication card, while in the prior art it was operating with that card.
p0020The invention finally relates to a method of pairing between the other hand, a mobile phone, such as that presented above, arranged to communicate through a telephone network, cellular, and, secondly, a private base , wireless phone arranged to communicate through another telephone network, a process in which the mobile phone identifies itself to the base that controls access from mobile phone to said other telephone network, characterized by the fact that during an initial registration step, the mobile phone records its identity to the base and the base assigns the mobile phone a secret key encryption.
p0021The invention will be better understood from the following description of the mobile phone and cordless phone base, in a particular embodiment of the invention, and of a particular embodiment of the method of the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
p0022- Figure 1 shows a functional block diagram of the mobile phone, according to the particular embodiment;
p0023- Figure 2 shows a functional block diagram of the base according to the particular embodiment and
p0024- Figure 3 shows a diagram of the mobile telephone of the private base and two telephone communication network.

p0030The mobile phone 20 further comprises a housing for receiving a carrier board with a microchip, in this case a standard SIM card 13, and 16 connecting the chip connectors on the phone, and more specifically to a switch 17, explained later. The chip contains memory authentication data of the mobile phone 20 by the cellular network 101, an authentication protocol by the cellular network 101 and a GSM communication protocol.
p0031In addition, the mobile phone 20 comprises a memory block 14 containing authentication data of the mobile telephone 20 by the private base station 30 of Figure 2, a matching protocol to the base 30, a communication protocol with the base 30 in this case the standard protocol wireless telephone CT2, and an initial registration protocol identification to the base 30. the matching protocol includes a cipher, an encryption program using an encryption key.
p0032Finally, the memory 14 and the chip of the SIM card 13 are connected to the control block 15 with interposition of the switch 17 is a two-position switch: a cellular mode position and a private mode position. In the position of cellular mode, the switch 17 connects the chip to the SIM card 13 to the control block 15, via the connector 16, and in private mode of position, it connects the memory 14 to the control block 15 thereby inhibiting the SIM card 13. The keyboard input 1 has two selection buttons respectively cell mode and the private mode, under the control of which the switch 17 switches to be in cellular mode position, either in private mode position, and an activation button on the protocol initial identification registration with the base 30.
p0033The mobile phone 20 is thus arranged to operate either in cellular mode, ie conventionally by radio link with the cellular network 101, specifically by radio with a base station of the cellular network 101, either in private mode, air link, radio here, with the private base 30, as will be specifically explained below.
p0034The private base 30 is a home base cordless phone designed to be paired with a wireless telephone handset. By "wireless telephone" is understood to mean the assembly comprising the base 30 and the domestic telephone handset connected to one another by air link, here radio.
p0035The wireless phone is configured to communicate through a telephone network 100 other than the cellular network 101 of the mobile telephone 20, in this case the switched telephone network RTC 100.
p0036The base 30 comprises a line interface 31 connected on one side to the PSTN network 100, by wire, and the other side to a coded 32 comprising an encoder / D conversion 33 and digital conversion decoder / analog converter 34 .
p0037The base 30 also includes a channel switching matrix 35 including an encoder 36 of channel selection for the radio program and a decoder channel selector 37 for radio reception, the base 30 here comprising eight channels or time slots and a communication between the base 30 and a telephone handset using one of eight time slots.
p0038The matrix switch 35 is connected to a block of emission / reception 38 radio comprising a radio transmitter 39 connected to the encoder 36 and a radio receiver 40 connected to the decoder 37. A radio antenna 41 is connected to the transmission / reception block 38 radio.
p0039The base 30 further comprises a memory block 42 containing an initial registration protocol for identifying the mobile phone 20, a protocol 6 pairing with the mobile phone 20, authentication data of the mobile phone 20 and a wireless communication protocol, in this case the standard protocol CT2. The pairing protocol includes an encryption program, the same as the mobile phone 20.
p0040Finally, there is provided a control block 43 to which are connected all the components of the base 30, and for controlling the operation of the base 30.
p0041After the structural description of the mobile phone 20 and the base 30, their operation will now be described.
p0042Initial identification record of the mobile phone 20 by the base 30
p0043To communicate through the PSTN network 100, via the private base 30, with the mobile phone 20, it is first necessary that the mobile phone 20 identifies and registers with the base 30. For this, the user of Wireless phone based on the activation key on the initial registration protocol with the base 30, and brings the mobile phone 20 near the base 30.
p0044The mobile phone 20 and the base 30 dialogue with one another and, during this dialogue, perform the initial registration protocol identification of the telephone 20 by the base 30.
p0045It is recalled here that the mobile phone 20 and the base 30 communicate with each other by radio to a specific frequency radio wireless telephony, blocks 10 and 11 receive radio and telephone radio show mobile 20 and the transmit / receive unit 38 of the base 30 using a frequency specific radio wireless telephony. For privacy reasons, the registration procedure is performed at low power.
p0046During recording, the mobile phone provides 20 to 30 base its identity, contained in the memory 14, and it assigns it back a secret identification key, forming an encryption key. The identity and the secret identification key of the telephone 20 is stored in the memory block 14 of the mobile telephone 20 and in the memory unit 42 of the base 30. 7
p0047The mobile phone 20 and contains in its memory block 14, the identity associated with the secret identification key assigned by the base 30, the identity and the secret key component of the authentication data of the telephone 20 by the base 30. Similarly, the base 30 contains in memory block 42, the identity of the mobile telephone 20 associated with the secret key that was assigned.
p0048Operation of the mobile phone in cellular mode
p0049To communicate through the cellular network 101, a telephone user selects the cell mode using the specific key on the keyboard and input 1, under the control of this selection, the switch 17 switches in cellular mode position.
p0050In cellular mode, the mobile telephone 20 operates in a conventional way, as an ordinary mobile phone. Using the contents of the chip of the SIM card, the mobile phone 20 executes the authentication protocol by the cellular network 101 by providing thereto its authentication data to be authenticated by the network cell 101. After authentication, the mobile phone 20 can communicate with a corresponding through the cellular network 101, using the GSM communication protocol and radio frequency specific to the GSM network.
p0051Operation of the mobile phone in private mode
p0052To communicate through the PSTN network 100, and when it is in the vicinity of the private base 30 in the coverage area thereof, the user of mobile phone 20 selects the private mode using the specific key 1 input keyboard.
p0053Under the control of the selection of the private mode, the switch 17 being in cellular mode position, the mobile phone 20 sends to the cellular network 101 a warning signal, accompanied by the telephone call number of the base 30 on the network RTC 100, previously stored in the memory block 14, for controlling the cellular network 101 to switch incoming calls sent to mobile phone 20 through the cellular network 101, 30 on private basis, that is to say towards the transmitted call number via the PSTN network 100. 8
p0054Under control of the control block 15, the switch 17 is then switched to private mode position so as to connect the memory block 14 to the control block 15 and to inhibit the SIM card 13.
p0055Then the mobile telephone 20 and the base 30 mate with each other, performing the matching protocol content, base side 30, in the memory block 42, and the phone side, the memory block 14. during this matching step, the telephone 20 identifies itself to the base 30 by providing its identity contained in the memory block 14. the base 30 compares this identity to that contained in the memory 42 and the identity provided by the mobile phone 20 is identical to that stored in the base 30, it sends in response to the mobile phone 20 a random number. The mobile phone 20 and the base 30 amounted to one another, each on their own, the random number using the common encryption program and using, as the encryption key, the secret key assigned Identification the mobile phone 20 by the base 30. After the encrypted random number provided by the base 30, the mobile telephone 20 returns to the base 30 in its encrypted form, and the base 30 compared with the result that she herself itself obtained by encryption. In case of identity, the base 30 validates the access of the mobile telephone 20 to the base 30 and therefore to the PSTN 100 network.
p0056The mobile phone 20, matched to the base 30, made handset function wireless phone, wireless phone heard, we are reminded here of the assembly including the base 30 and the mobile phone 20.
p0057In a communication through the PSTN network 100, between the mobile telephone 20 and a corresponding via private base 30, the base 30 receives, through the PSTN network 100, the information from the caller and retransmits by its radio antenna 41 to the mobile telephone 20. the base 30 also receives, through its radio antenna 41, information transmitted by the mobile telephone 30 and forwards them to the corresponding, through the PSTN 100. in the communication between the base 30 and the mobile phone 20, the mobile phone 30 and the base 20 communicate with each other using the CT2 communication protocol. It is as if the mobile phone 20 was a simple cordless telephone handset paired to the base 30 and communicating with it by radio.
p0058In case of incoming call to the mobile phone 20, the cellular network 101, one, previously warned of the passage of the mobile phone 20 in private mode, needle the call to the private base 30 through the PSTN 9
p0059100. On receiving the call, the user "wins" the line by pressing a specific key on the keyboard of the mobile telephone 20 and communicates with the caller through the PSTN network 100 and via the base 30, using the mobile phone 20 as a wireless phone handset paired to the base 30.
p0060If outgoing call, the user dials the phone number to the mobile phone keypad 20 and establishes communication with a correspondent through the PSTN 100 via the private base 20, the mobile phone 20 functioning as a wireless phone handset paired to private base 20.
p0061During a communication between the mobile telephone 20, matched to the base 30, and a corresponding, through the PSTN network 100, the base 30 has a similar role to that of a base station of a cellular network 101, to which the mobile telephone 20 is connected, via radio, to communicate through the cellular network 101. the base 30 serves as a private base station of the PSTN, to which the mobile telephone 20 connects to communicate either through its usual network, but through another network, in this case the PSTN network 100.
p0062It is emphasized that the mobile phone 20 in private mode, can be used with or without the SIM card inserted into the phone 20.
p0063If outgoing call instead of pressing a specific key for selecting the operating mode of the mobile phone, you could consider adding the dialed phone number on the keypad of mobile telephony, a distinctive element, example the element "*" prefixed to the normal call number. The phone would then be able to recognize the element "*" and to interpret it as a private way selection command.
p0064Of course, the base may contain authentication data in the memory of a plurality of mobile phones capable of pairing to the base and allowed access to the PSTN network 100 through it. The base could also be paired with regular telephone handsets, that is to say, unable to communicate through a network other than the base.
p0065In the description that has just been made, it was expected that the phone and the base 30 communicate with each other using the CT2 protocol 10 wireless. One might consider that they use a different wireless communication protocol, a cellular telephone communication protocol or another communication protocol.
p0066Instead of the memory block 14 containing the authentication data of the mobile phone by the private basis, the pairing protocol to the base, the communication protocol with the base and the initial identification with registration protocol the internal base to the mobile phone 20, there could be a memory, chip for example, supported by a card to be removably inserted in the phone, as it is for the card 13.
p0067Finally, in the particular example of the above description, the mobile phone is configured to communicate through a cellular network GSM 101 and is privately arranged to communicate through the PSTN 100. The invention is of course to a mobile telephone arranged to communicate through any wireless network and a base arranged to communicate with any other telephone network.
