Methods and systems for access point placement optimization in low-signal worksite environments

Abstract

A method and corresponding system (600) for worksite access point placement optimization, the method (600) including: generating (602) a connectivity profile for a machine (150); receiving (604) a worksite definition for a worksite (100); simulating (606) a machine path (200) within the worksite (100) according to the worksite definition; estimating (608) connection strength at the machine (150), based on the connectivity profile, for multiple locations along the machine path (200) and for multiple access point locations (410) around the worksite (100); and providing (610) a map of the worksite (100) including an indication of relative overall connection strength for each of the multiple access point locations (410).

  1. 1
Claims1. A method (600) for worksite access point placement optimization, the method (600) comprising:generating (602) a connectivity profile for a machine (150);receiving (604) a worksite definition for a worksite (100);simulating (606) a machine path (200) within the worksite (100) according to the worksite definition;estimating (608) connection strength at the machine (150), based on the connectivity profile, for multiple locations along the machine path (200) and for multiple access point locations ( 10) around the worksite (100);and providing (610) a map of the worksite (100) including an indication of relative overall connection strength for each of the multiple access point locations.
  2. 7
A system (1000) for worksite access point placement optimization, comprising:one or more processors (1004);and one or more memory devices (1006, 1008) having stored thereon instructions that when executed by the one or more processors (1004) cause the one or more processors (1004) to: generate (602) a connectivity profile for a machine (150);receive (604) a worksite definition for a worksite (100);simulate (606) a machine path (200) within the worksite (100) according to the worksite definition;estimate (608) connection strength at the machine (150), based on the connectivity profile, for multiple locations along the machine path (200) and for multiple access point locations (410) around the worksite (100);and provide (610) a map of the worksite including an indication of relative overall connection strength for each of the multiple access point locations (410).
