Continuous weave quick adjust harness backplate system

Abstract

A system to permit a diver to quickly adjust a one-piece continuous piece of webbing by simply pushing or pulling the webbing in the desired direction. The system includes accessory plate which is fixed to an existing diving backplate, which allows the webbing to slide on through the attached accessories without affecting the location of the accessories with respect, to the diver's body. An improved adjustable crotch strap is also secured to the backplate. An ergonomic backplate frame is also disclosed.

    CLAIM 4. An adaptor plate secured to a diver's backplate comprising:a body member secured to a diver's backplate and having a first end extending beyond an adjacent first side edge of the backplate and a second end extending beyond an adjacent second side edge of the backplate, said body member having a first pair of angled slots disposed on a first side of said body member and a second pair of angled slots disposed on a second side of said body member;said body member a first outer slot at or near the first end of said body member and a second outer slot at or near the second end of said body member, said body member having at least one aperture therethrough which is used when securing the body member to the diver's backplate, wherein when said body member is secured to said backplate said first pair of angled slots are aligned with a first pair of angled slots located near a first side bottom area of the backplate and the second pair of angled slots are aligned with a second pair of angled slots located near a second side bottom area of the backplate.
  3. 9
    CLAIM 9. A system for improved adjustability of a harness having a continuous harness webbing used in connection with a diver's backplate, the backplate having a first pair of angled slots at a first lower side backplate and a second pair of angled slots at a second lower side of the backplate, said system comprising:an adaptor plate secured to a diver's backplate and having a first end extending beyond an adjacent first side edge of the backplate and a second end extending beyond an adjacent second side edge of the backplate, said adaptor plate having a first pair of angled slots disposed on its first side and a second pair of angled slots disposed on its second side;said adaptor plate having a first outer slot at or near its first end and a second outer slot at or near its second end, wherein when said adaptor plate is secured to said backplate said first pair of angled slots of said adaptor plate are aligned with the first pair of angled slots of said backplate and the second pair of angled slots of said adaptor plate are aligned with the second pair of angled slots of the backplate. a first accessory assembly secured at the first end of the adaptor plate in connection with the first outer slot of said adaptor plate, said first accessory assembly having a first webbing portion defining a first passageway which permits the harness webbing to be inserted therethrough such that the first accessory assembly does not restrict adjustment movements of the harness webbing and allows the first accessory assembly to maintain its position with respect to a diver's body during the adjustment movement of the harness webbing;and a second accessory assembly secured at the second end of the adaptor plate in connection with the second outer slot of said adaptor plate, said second accessory assembly having a second webbing portion defining a second passageway which permits the harness webbing to be inserted therethrough such that the second accessory assembly does not restrict adjustment movements of the harness webbing and allows the second accessory assembly to maintain its position with respect to a diver's body during the adjustment movement of the harness webbing;
  4. 17
    CLAIM 17. An improved triglide for threaded a webbing or strap therethrough, comprising:a body member having a substantially horizontal first elongated end, a substantially horizontal elongated second end and an upwardly rounded center portion between the first elongated end and the second elongated end, said center portion having a first slot and a second slot which define a substantially horizontal top member which is position vertically higher than the first elongated end and the second elongated end.
  5. 19
    CLAIM 19. An ergonomic back plate system for a diver, comprising:an elongated vertical frame;a curved member pivotally secured to said vertical frame adjacent a diver's shoulder area;said curved member adjustably secured to the vertical frame at one of a plurality securement locations on said vertical frame, said curved member have a plurality of slots for receiving a harness webbing therethrough;and a first roller secured to first side of the vertical frame;a second roller secured to a second opposite side of the vertical frame;wherein said harness webbing is also passed through the first roller and the second roller.
