Sharing ongoing data session

Abstract

The present invention discloses a solution for performing a sharing an ongoing data session between a first user and a group of at least one additional user in a telecommunication system. The basic idea of this invention is to provide a network integration node with a shared streaming session logic, replication logic and group membership management functions of a conference node, like for example the "Push to-talk over Cellular (PoC)" application. Using this functionality the conference system is to be included into the ongoing streaming session, shall invite additional members and forward the streaming traffic to them as well. This results into a shared streaming service using unicast communication resources.

13 claims: 2 independent, 11 dependent

  1. 1
Claims 1. Method for sharing data session (11) between a first user (12) and a group of at least one additional user (13) for a telecommunication system (10) having a network integration entity (14) for data session proxying and a server (15) for providing the data session (11, 11') to the first user (12) , said method performed in the network integration node (14) comprising:- performing a data session proxying procedure (S21) to track the data session (11) established by the first user (12) , and receiving a request (S22) from the first user (12) for sharing the data session (11,11') with the group of at least one additional user (13) and, performing a conference establishment procedure (S23) to a conference node (16) handling the group of the at least one additional user for binding the network integration entity (14) to the conference node (16) as a conference party of a conference by establishing of a second data session connection (18) to the conference node, and - performing a replication procedure (S24) for triggering a replication of the data session to the group of at least one additional user over the second data session connection.
  2. 6
Method according to one of the claim 1 to 5 characterized in that the network integration node replicates data packets of the data session until said data packets reach the first user via the conference node.
  3. 7
Method according to one of the claim 1 to 6 characterized in that the first user indicates in a message being sent to the network integration node a group identifier of the group of at least one additional user.
  4. 9
Method according to one of the claim 1 to 8 characterised in that charging records for the first user and the additional users of the group of the at least one additional user are collected.
  5. 10
Method according to one of the claim 1 to 9 characterised in that floor control function is implemented in the network integration node and/or in the conference node in order to allow the at least one additional user to control the data session instead of the first user.
  6. 11
Network integration node (14) adapted to perform a sharing of an ongoing data session (11) between a first user (12) and a group of at least one additional user (13) wherein said network integration node is located in a telecommunication system (10) and comprises proxy logic for proxying a data session (11,11') provided by a server (15) to the first user (12) and, reception controller for receiving and evaluating a request (S22) received from the first user (12) for sharing the ongoing data session (11) with the group of at least one additional user (13) and, - binding controller (S23) for binding the network integration entity (14) as a conference party to a conference node (16) handling the group of the at least one additional user wherein said binding controller is adapted to establish a second data session connection (18) to the conference node, and replication logic (S24) for triggering a replication of the data session to the group of at least one additional user wherein the second data session connection (18) is used to transmit data session to the conference node.
