Seismic bracing connector

A connector (9) for connecting a seismic brace to a support rod, such as for a cable tray, to inhibit movement of the rod during seismic activity. The connector (9) comprises a metal connecting member (11) having an upper portion (21) and a lower portion (19) joined at a juncture. Openings in the juncture, upper portion (21) and lower portion (19) define a slot (29) for entry of the support rod into the slot (29). The connector (9) further comprises a retainer (13) inserted in a gap (25) between the upper (21) and lower (19) portions. The retainer (13) bridges the slot (29) to retain the support rod in the slot (29). The connector (9) permits bracing to be added without removal of the support rod from the tray and ensures that the brace remains attached during seismic activity, even where a retaining nut (5) holding the connector (9) to the support has become loosened.
