Collar.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Wabben V. Eaton, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and 5 State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collars, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to shirts of the negligee type and has for its object the pro10 vision of means whereby the wearer shall be enabled to easily, quickly and securely fasten the points of the collar to the body of the shirt and thus not only more effectively hold a neck-tie in place but also pre15 vent the unsightly curling up of the points of the collar.

To this end the invention consists in certain novel and peculiar features of construction and ) organization as hereinafter de20 scribed and claimed; and in order that it may be fully understood reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in which—

indicates a pair of buttons disposed at equal distances from and at opposite sides of the centrally disposed fastening means 35 2, said buttons 3 being stitched as at 4 through the body of the shirt and through reinforce pieces 5 at the inner side of the front of the shirt as shown most clearly in Fig. 2.

6 indicates the collar of the shirt, the same being shown of the four-ply type, 7 indicating the two outer plies and 8 the two inner plies of the collar and said inner plies near the points of the collar are each pro45 vided with a pair of parallel slits 9, forming loops 10, hereinafter termed finger loops each of which extends upwardly and inwardly, when the collar is in its normal position, as shown at the right hand side of

By preference the loops 10, are provided with longitudinal buttonholes 11 for engagement with the buttons 3, to hold the points of the collai· tightly, down upon the 55 breast portions of the shirt and when the collar is so secured the buttons 3 and the loops are undiscernible, it being further noted that by thus securing the points of the collar to the shirt the necktie may be 60 drawn snugly around the neckband under the collar without pulling or twisting the latter out of shape.

The finger loops 10 enable the wearer before putting the shirt on or after to. button 65 the collai· with greater facility and ease to buttons 3, than is possible with what is known as a blind button hole formed in the collar without loops.

I am aware'that it is old to provide gar- 70 ment collars with buttonholes near the points of the collars or with buttonholes in the lining or inner plies of the collars, but I am not aware of any garment collar having been equipped before the date of my 75 invention with finger loops in the lining or inner plies of the collar.

From the above description it will be apparent a shirt is produced possessing the features of advantage enumerated as desirable 80 and which may be modified without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
