Aqueous solutions of amine functionalized ionic compounds for carbon capture processes

Summary by NHIP

Amine Ionic Absorbent Process

The process separates carbon dioxide from a gas stream using an aqueous ionic absorbent solution with a viscosity of 0.1 to 100 cSt. The solution contains 40 to 80 wt. % diluents and an ionic absorbent selected from tetrabutylammonium N-propyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)amine, tetrabutylphosphonium N-isopropyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)amine, or tetraethylammonium N-isopropyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)amine.

Abstract

An aqueous ionic absorbent solution is disclosed containing (a) about 15 wt. % to about 80 wt. % of one or more diluents, based on the total weight of the aqueous ionic absorbent solution; and (b) an ionic absorbent containing a cation and an anion comprising an amine moiety.
