IMPROVEMENT IN BABY-WALKERS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same

To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, John 0. Goulding, of Trenton, in the county of Mercer, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and improved Baity-Walker; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof) which will enable others skilled in tlie art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

Figure 1 represents a rear elevation of my improved baby-walker.

Figure 2 is a plan or top view of the same.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention lias for its object to so construct a i baby-walker, that it will fit the child like a garment, allow tlie same freedom of motion while supporting it, and be simple, light, and cheap at the same time.

The invention consists in fitting a flexible belt into the walker, so that said belt may be buckled around the waist of the child, to prevent the same from falling, and still to form a yielding support.

A, in the drawing, represents the upper frame of a baby-walker.

It is supported on four or more legs, B B, which are provided with casters, a a, as shown.

The frame A is in form of a letter U, that is to say, open in rear.

Upon the frame A is secured a U-sliaped sheet of fabric, 0, which is somewhat wider than the frame·, so as to project to the inside of the same.

From the inner edge of this sheet C is suspended a broad belt, D, which is open in rear, and which, when a child is placed within the instrument, is laid around the waist and buckled. The child is tints firmly retained, and cannot fall, but is at liberty to walk about with the whole frame.

Tlie instrument is light, can be cheaply made, and is very convenient and useful.
