Curtain-fixture.

Be it known that I, Henry A. Depp, a resident of Crafton, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have in⁵ vented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.

One object of this invention is to provide an improved curtain fixture which may be io readily attached to and detached from a window frame without marring the same.

A further object is to provide improved means for detachably connecting the curtain pole and shade brackets with the hold15 ing means attached to the frame.

Still a further object is to provide improved means for firmly securing and holding in position a pair of bracket mountings without securing the latter to any other por20 tion of the frame than the top thereof.

The invention also includes brackets of improved construction.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved device 25 shown in position on the upper portion of a.window frame, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one end thereof, slightly modified. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 illustrating a.modification. Figs. 4 and 5 are sectional ³⁰. views illustrating the connections between the brackets and the plate-like holders.

, - Referring to. the drawings, 2 designates the upper portion of a window frame, and 3 are the bracket mountings of plate form, ³⁵ one of the mountings being provided with arms 4 projected toward the other mounting, while the latter : is constructed with the keeper-like arms 5 which telescope arms 4 and in which the· latter slide for accoiiimo⁴⁰ dating the fixture„to the width of a window.

Projecting from the upper edge of each of plates 4 is the backwardly turned lug 6 adapted .to overhang the top edge of frame 2 to which it is removably secured by the ⁴⁵ headed pin 7.

_λ In Fig. 1 the fixture is shown applied to a frame which either has no vertical side edges .or in which such edges if existing are • not available, and.in such arrangement arms °® 4-and 5 hold plates 3 from turning, i ' In. the adaptation shown in Fig. 2, plate 3 is provided with the side lug 8 secured by a pin 9 to the vertical edge of the frame, and when thus secured in addition to top lug 6, ⁵⁵ arms 4 and '& may be dispensed with. The formation of plate 3 for detachably secur ing the shade bracket 10 and curtain pole bracket 11 is the same. In each instance the plate, is formed with three horizontal slots 12, 13 and 14, arranged one above the other 60 as shown, with the metal between slots 13 and 14 bulged outwardly at 15, and the metal beneath slot 12 similarly bulged, as indicated at 16, thus forming a vertical passage which receives the downwardly bent 65 rear portion 17 of bracket 10 which passes through the tw:o upper slots<as clearly shown in. Fig. 4. Said bracket is also formed with downwardly extending front portion 18 which, extends downward in front of bulge 70 15, with its lower extremity 18' entered in slot 12. The bracket is thus securely held and yet may be readily lifted and detached from plate 3. In like manner, the downwardly extending rear portion 19 of pole 75 bracket 11 extends downwardly through the slot-formed passage way, while the bracing arm 20 extends downwardly and backwardly from the front portion of the bracket, with its lower extremity 20' bent to 80 enter slot 12 with the lower extremity of part. 19 overhanging extremity 20' and holding it froip moving upward. Bracket 11 is provided with extensible arm 21, which may be either drawn outward or pushed back, 85 according to· the distance it is. desired to drape the- curtains from the window. Part 21 rests on the top of part ll_r and each of said parts is formed with backwardly turned keeper-forming clips 22, the clips of each 90 part embracing the other part and holding them in sliding engagement.

In the modification of Fig. 3, shade bracket 10 is formed with the right-angle rear part 23 adapted to movb between the 95 horizontal grooved guides 2.4, bent into the form shown after slitting plate 3, as indicated at 25. This bracket may thus be adjusted as required for either longer or shorter shades. ' ioo

With the bracket mountings or holders constructed as here shown they may be readily applied to and detached from a window frame without defacing the same.
