Metal extension-slide for tables.

Be it known that I, Gotlob H. Welterlin, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Joseph,_ in the county of Buchanan and g State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Metal ExtensionSlide for Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to extension slides IO for tables, and more particularly to metal extension slides, the object being to form an extension slide out of galvanized iron, so that it will not be effected by the weather, thereby overcoming the difficulties now existing 15 of the slides swelling and jamming in damp climates.

Another object of my invention is to provide an extension slide out of sheet metal, which is very simple and cheap in construc20 tion and one which is very effective in use. .

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists, in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of. parts hereinafter fully described and 25 pointed out in the claims.

In the drawing forming a part of this specification:—Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved slide attached to the side rail of a table. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the 30 slide and a portion of the table. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the slides detached.

. Referring to the drawings A, A' and A² indicate the duplicate interlocking slides, the slides A', A² of which are secured to the end 35 of the table-frame, in the ordinary manner, and the slide A to the side-rail of the table E, as will be hereinafter fully described.

The slides are formed of rectangular casings having longitudinal slots B formed in 40 their sides by splitting the sides centrally, and bending the sides inwardly and back upon themselves as shown at B', forming a guideway. The opposite sides of the casings are bent centrally and inwardly, as shown at B² forming a longitudinal groove in which is 45 secured by rivets, a U-shaped member C, provided with flanged ends 0' Which are bent back upon themselves at C² forming guidemembers which are adapted to work in the guideways of the adjacent casing, the guide- 50 bearing against the bent back portion of the sides, forming a tight slide. Blocks B are secured in the member C adjacent each end reinforcing the members so as to hold them rigid without any danger of them giving and’ ₅₅jamming the slides.

The casing A is riveted to an angle-plate F secured to the side-rail of the table, and the guide-ends of the member C carried by the casing are also riveted to the angle-plate θθ which securely fastens the slide to the table and support.
