Infant's bib.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Mildred Webber Walbridge, a citizen of the United States of America, and residing and having a post5 office address at 10 West Thirty-third street, in the borough of Manhattan, city and State of New York, United States of America, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Infants’ Bibs, of which the 10 following is a full and clear description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. .

The object of this invention is to provide a. child’s bib, especially useful in keeping the 15 child’s dress and clothing thoroughly dry, protecting the chest from dampness, and preventing colds and pneumonia.

. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view, partly broken away,, of a bib made according to my invention; Fig. 2 is a sectional view of such bib, on the line Ii~rl; Fig. 3 shows the layer of absorbent cloth, and Fig. 4 shows the layer of waterproof material.

The bib comprises the body or chest portion made up of separate plies or thicknesses A and D, of cloth or other material, and having the opening B to fit the shoulder portions to the neck of the wearer. The two 30 thicknesses of material are secured at their outer edges, by stitching C, so as to leave a pocket between the plies or thicknesses A and D. Such pocket has the inner edge (the neck portion) left open, and is intended to receive a separable layer E of absorbent mate- 35 rial—such as absorbent cotton .and a separable layer F of waterproof material such as oil-skin or rubber.

Each layer is preferably formed to fit the bottom and sides of the pocket before re- 40 ferred to, and cut away at its neck portion (as indicated at e and/) as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The waterproof layer may, as shown, be slightly smaller than the layer of absorbent material. . ⁴⁵
