IMPROVED OTTOMAN-LOUNGE.

TO WHOM. IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, George H. C. Williams, of Chicago, in the county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ottoman-Lounges; and'I do declare that the following is a. true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon', and being a part of this specification.

Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views.

Figure 3 is a sectional view from x to x.

Like letters indicate like parts in each figure.

The subject of my invention is an ottoman-seat and bed or lounge combined, constructed in such a manner that when not in use as a bed, it will have the appearance of and not occupy more room than the ordinary boxottoman, as shown in fig. 1.

A being the body or case, to which is attached the upholstered top C, by hinges at the bach side, to the case or box. To the top and inner edge of end-board J is hinged extension-section -A, .composed of longitudinal bars B, transverse bars L and M, bed K, extension head-board E, hinged to bed K by hinges 4, and secured to the desired angle by hook I, the whole supported by standard-frame F, hihged to the under side of bed K by hinges 3. The top of bed K is provided with cushion D', extending and connected to the top edge of board E, elevating the head, and, with cushion D, forms a very convenient and luxurious bed.

By raising cover C, the extended section may be replaced in box A, simultaneously releasing hook I from the staple in bar M, adjusting board E at right angles with bed K, and placing standard-frame F between longitudinal bafs B, all in position as shown in red lines, fig. 3.

Transverse bar G, hinged to the outer and upper edge of end-board J, with its lower edge reversed upon its hinges, occupies the space of bar L when the extension is encased in box A. Box or chest H, placed in the bottom of-case A, secures a convenient receptacle for the storage of the necessary .bedding required.
