Revolving window-shade-display case.

Be it known that I, Henry Klein, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, 5 nave invented a new and useful Revolving· Window-Shade-Display Case, of which the following’is a specification.

The invention relates to a revol vi ng windo wshade-djsplay case.

io Theobject of the present invention is to improve the construction of display-cases and to provide a simple and comparatively inexpensive one designed especially for handling window-shades and adapted to display a large va^r5 riety of the same and to enable a selection to be made without handling the windowshades.

A further object of the invention is to provide a display-case of this character adapted 2o while displaying the character of its contents to protect the latter from dust and light to prevent stock from becoming soiled and delicate shades from fading.

With these and other objects in view the 25 invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the ’ accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being under30 stood that various changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details of construction within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the 35 invention.

. In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a revolving window-shade-display case constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of 4° the same. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view.

1 designates a revolving case mounted upon a stand 2, which is provided with a horizontal top 3 and supporting-legs 4, the supporting-legs being connected at an intermediate point by a shelf 5. The. shelf is provided 5° with suitable ways 6 for the reception of a drawer 7. Other drawers may be provided, and the construction of the stand may be varied as desired. The revolving case is centrally connected at the top of the stand by a vertical pivot 8, and an annular series of anti- 55 friction-balls 9 is interposed between the revolving case and the base, the bottom 10 of the case and the top 3 of the base being provided with opposite grooves or channels to form a ball-race. By this construction the 60 case may be readily rotated to bring any portion of it to the front and for enabling the window-shade,, hereinafter explained, to be conveniently displayed.· The revolving case, which is polygonal in cross-section, preferably 65 octagonal, is provided with opposite vertical parallel partitions 11, extending ou tward from a central vertical partition 12, which constitutes the back wal 1 of the compartments formed by the partitions 11. These compartments, 70 which are rectangular, extend from the center of the case to the exterior thereof. The case is provided with opposite vertical parallel partitions 13, arranged at right angles to the partitions 11 and extending outward from the outer 75 faces thereof and forming rectangular compartments, which terminate short of the center of the revolving case.. By this construction four rectangular compartments are provided, two of which extend to the center of 80 the case,, while the other two terminate short of the center. The partitions 13 and the outer portions of the partitions 11 form intermediate approximately V-shaped or triangular compartments 14. The V-shaped and rectangular 85. compartments vary in size and are adapted to receive different quantities of window-shades, which can be assorted to suit the requirements of the trade.

The bottom 10 of the revolving case is oc- 90 tagonal, and a top 15 of similar shape is provided. The compartments are provided at the top and bottom with pockets to receive the ends of the window-shades. These pockets are formed by fixed upper plates or walls 95 16 and lower doors 17, the doors being hinged at one of their vertical edges and secured at the other vertical edge by a suitable catch 18. The lower pockets of the rectangular compartments may be subdivided by lower verti- 100

790,440 cal partitions 20, which extend from the hot- I tom of the case to the upper edges of the doors. The doors afford access to the compartments and enable the window-shades to 5 be readily removed from the case.

The polygonal case is provided at the top with brackets 21 and 22, adapted to receive the journals of window-shade rollers. One of the brackets is provided with a rectangular io aperture to receive the spring-journal in the usual manner. The window-shades 23 are of reduced size and are designed to correspond with the contents of their respective compartments, so that a selection may be made 15 without handling the contents of the case.

By revolving the case the sample shades which are displayed afford customers an opportunity to conveniently make a selection, and they also cover or close the compartments between 20 the top and bottom pockets and serve to exclude dust and light to prevent the windowshades contained in the compartments from being soiled or faded. The displayed window-shades may be readily rolled up when it 25 is desired to remove any of the contents of the case.

The top vertical plates or outer walls are provided with card or label holders 25, so that the necessary data relative to the contents of 30 the several compartments may be readily mounted on the case. The straight faces formed by the polygonal case enable the displayed window-shades to fit snugly against the case and to protect the contents thereof.

It will be seen that the revolving windowshade case is exceedingly simple and inexpensive in construction, that it is adapted to receive a large variety of window-shades, and that it will enable the stock to be conven40 iently assorted. Furthermore, it is adapted to display a large variety of window-shades, and it will enable customers to make a selection without handling the contents of the compartments.
