TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, Josephus SoNNEDECKElt, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Advertising-Frame; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.

This invention relates to an annular panelled frame or cage to surround a lamp-post, and adapted to receive and Hold a number of advertising-cards or advertisements.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of my advertising-frame partly open and in place upon the post.

Figure 2 is a horizontal section through the same.

Figure 3 is a vertical elevation of a modification of my invention.

The frame consists of two sections, A and B, each section furnished with one or more convex or flat faces displaying outwardly, and the whole forming, collectively, a prism of the hexagonal forms shown, or any other preferred form, such as cylindrical, pyramidal, &amp;c.

These faces or panels are for the exhibition of advertisements, and each panel is formed of two grooved sides, d; united at bottom and top by horizontal pieces c e'.

At the top the frame may be furnished with an eave or cap, in two pieces, G G', the said cap serving to clasp the post, its inner edge being formed to fit the said post. This cap, projecting beyond the panels, serves to shed the rain, and to prevent the obscuring of the glass by a film of moisture. The said cap also serves to protect from the weather the cards' bearing the advertising-matter.

Each panel has two grooved lips or cleats, li, and studs I, which serve to hold the cards J and the glass pane K and sheet-metal or other back L. The two sections A B are connected together on one side by hinges M, and on the other side by bolts or latches N, which arc engaged or disengaged with lugs 0 by means of a key, which is kept by tho person whose business it is to attend to the advertiser, and to keep the same supplied with advertisements.

A modification of my invention is shown in fig. 3, in which the cap G is dispensed with, and piece e comes in direct contact with the post. The groove V, on tho lower side of tho said piece c^,₎ serves to protect the upper, ends of the show-cards from moisture, so that no rain falling on the frame will penetrate to the advertisements.
