Be it known that I, Oswald Leuschner, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, (Brooklyn,) county of Kings, and 5 State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Package-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a package-carrier which is of simple construction and may be io securely attached to the package.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of my improved package-carrier, and Fig. 2 an end view thereof.

The letter a represents the cylindrical han15 die of the carrier. To each end of handle a there is secured by a nail b a spring-wire hook D, placed at right angles to the handle and adapted to engage the strap or string of the package. Each hook D is made from a con20 tinuous length of wire and is bent to form an open circular eye d and a pair of diverging shanks / dd in the same plane with the eye. The shank d² is at its lower end first bent upwardly, as at /, and then downwardly, as at 25 /· In this way there is formed on the end of shank / an inverted-U-shaped keeper, which is closed at the top and open at the bottom. This keeper is adapted for the reception of the shank /, that constitutes the resilient tongue 3° of the hook, and is sprung into engagement with the keeper through the lower open side of the same. By pressing the tongue first downward and then sidewise the hook is readily opened for the reception of the package string or strap, which is supported upon the 35 lower bend of shank /. The eye d is engaged by the nail b, and as it is open between the shanks / / it will snugly embrace the nail by spring-pressure.

It will be seen that my improved package- 4° carrier is of simple construction, may be readily manipulated, and as the hooks extend parallel to each other and at right angles to the handle the length of the carrier is reduced to a minimum. 45
