SANITARY TOILET-SHEET.

Serial No, 98,280. (No model.) edge with a continuous surface part A², which is not pierced by any of the incisions. This edge part is adapted for engagement with feeding and controlling mechanism for vending the paper, and each sheet is provided at 55 any desirable location within the boundaries of this said edge part with an aperture A³.

Located upon a horizontal central line of each sheet A is an approximately oval-shaped flap B, which is separated from the sheet A 60 by means of the incisions δ, normal integral connection being maintained by means of the uncut parts 2. This flap is adapted to be severed from the sheet A at the uncut parts 2 and bent over at the point 3, whereby an open- 65 ing is provided for registering with the opening of the seat upon which the sheet is adapted to be used, the flap being employed as an auxiliary depending protective medium.

I prefer to employ a number of the sheets, 70 each embodying a part A and a plurality of parts A', connected together and formed into a roll, as shown by Fig. 3 of the drawings; but it is obvious that under the scope of my invention I may employ a series of super- 75 posed separable sheets, if desirable.

As a means for detachably connecting the several parts of the sheet I may employ incisions and uncut parts, as shown by Figs. 1 and 3, or I may use simple rows of perfora- 80 tions, as illustrated by Fig. 2; but in each case a plain unpunctured edge part A is provided along one longitudinal edge of the sheet.

In the operation and use of the invention 85 the flap B is severed at its parts 2 and bent over on a line with the point 3. The sheet A is then placed over the seat, with the sheets A' extended in a forward direction and the flap B depending downwardly through the 90 seat-opening at the front part thereof, thus providing an efficient sanitary protective covering for the seat and a plurality of readilydetachable sheets for toilet use.

I do not confine myself to any specific ma- 95 terial for forming the sheets, and I reserve the right of using medicated material, if desired, and also the sheets may contain numbers arranged consecutively, as shown at x, I Fig. 2 of the drawings. ¹⁰

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Edward F. Lankenau, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, county of New York, and 5 Stateof NewYork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary ToiletSheets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which io similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to sanitary toiletsheets, the object thereof being to provide an improved article of manufacture of this char15 acter comprising an integral sheet which embodies a plurality of detachable sheets for ordinary toilet purposes and a protective covering for seats and which has an aperture adapted for engagement with a controlling or 20 feeding means to assist in the operation of vending the sheet by coin-controlled or other apparatus.

The invention will be hereinafter fully described, and specifically set forth in the an25 nexed claims.

In the practice of my invention the sheet is composed of paper or analogous material, and 35 each complete sheet embodies a sheet A, which is of liberal proportion, preferably of rectangular contour, and a plurality of smaller sheets A', which are separable from the sheet A, but formed integral therewith. 40 These sheets A' are also preferably of rectangular contour, and I may employ any desirable number of them. They are preferably separated from each other and from the sheet A by means of the longitudinally-extended 45 incisions a and transverse incisions a ,located at their contiguous edges and which embody the major parts of said edges, the uncut parts 1 acting to hold the several sheets of the device in normal integral connection.
