CENTRIFUGAL MACHINE.

Be it known that I, Albin Kaczorowski, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Kalisch, in the Empire of Russia, have in5 vented a new and useful Improvement in Centrifugal Machines for Treating Sugar-Loaves, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to centrifugal machines for treating sugar-loaves, and it inio eludes a rotary carrier and means associated therewith for rotating the loaves upon their axes as they rotate with the carrier.

The invention also includes the details of construction to be hereinafter described, and 15 particularly pointed out in the claims.

In order to render the present specification easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar numerals of reference denote similar parts 20 throughout the several views.

Figure 1 is a plan view of the apparatus, and Fig. 2 a vertical section on line A B of Fig. 1.

Within the rotary centrifugal drum 1 a worm 2 is mounted, with .which a series of 25 worm-wheels 3, arranged within the drum around the said worm, engage. The spindles 4 of the said worm-wheels are suitably mounted in bearings 5. Each worm-wheel spindle carries a pinion 6 at its outer end, which en30 gages the lower member 7 of a pair of superposed gears 7 and 7', suitably mounted in standards 9 by means of short sleeves 8. These sleeves serve to support the thick end of the loaves, the pointed end of the same being sup35 ported in ball-bearings 10. As will be clearly seen from Fig. 1, the loaves are not radially arranged, but tangentially to a circle concentric with the centrifugal drum. The worm 2 is seated on the end of the driving-spindle 40 of the centrifugal drum and is retained stationary by means of its square or polygonal head 11, over which a corresponding cap of the bar 12 engages, the said bar being attached to the plate 13 of the stationary drum-hous45 ing of the centrifugal machine.

The device operates in the following manner: When the drum 1 is rotated, the stationary worm 2 rotates all the worm-wheels 3 and with them the sleeves 8, holding the sugar-loaves, so that these loaves will not 50 only rotate with the drum, but will simultaneously be rotated around their own axes. The bearings 10 are hollow—i. e., they allow the fluid to pass out through the same into the centrifugal housing. 55

The method of applying the fluid to the drum and also the manner of heating the drum are not described, being known in connection with similar machinery and forming no part of the present invention. 60
