ROPE-FASTENER.

SPECIFICATION forming· part of Letters Patent No. 678,533, dated July 16, 1901.

To all wham· it may concern:

Be it known that I, Samuel Searing Bancker, a citizen of the United States, residing at No. 60 Horatio street, in the city 5 of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Rope - Fasteners to Speedily Fasten Clothes-Lines, Tent-Ropes, &amp;c., of which the following is a specification, io In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved rope-fastener. Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken at right angles to the plan shown in Fig. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are plan and sectional views showing rope in position.

Referring to drawings, Fig. 1, the device consists of a casting of metal, preferably galvanized iron or other substance not liable to corrosion, in the form of a parallelogram, containing three holes in its length, with a 20 short horn on either side at the forward end to prevent the rope becoming displaced from its proper position around the pin D, projecting from the end between the horns.

The operation is as follows, viz: One end 25 of the rope or clothes-line is spliced or otherwise fastened in the hole C and the other after passing over the stationary pulleys at either end of the yard is rove upward through the hole A and downward through the middle hole B and a knot made in the free end 30 to prevent it becoming accidentally detached. In fastening the rope it is drawn tightly upward through the hole A and the bight passed over the pin D and the slack drawn down through the hole B, as in Figs. 3 and 4. 35
